Was there for 3 nights end of December. 100% good in every way. Breakfast on the terrace was ace. Views outstanding. Highly recommend booking this for the bargain price via travelrepublic

Cross the road, turn right, take the 1st street on the left and head down to the 'Lantern Restaurant' for the best food in town. This lovely restaurant is 5* and has such cheap prices I couldnt belive it. I would highly recommend the fillet steak meal at only 70 EGP... what a bargain for the best fillet I have ever tasted in my life!

Room Tip: A side room with a view of the nile are the best value.

It is an ok Hotel. We wanted a budget hotel, and that is what we got. The beds were fantastic, very comfortable, it was very clean and food was good. It didn't feel welcoming, and even if it was very empty, people didn't get out of their way to help you. I wouldn't come back, would go to choices 1 or 2 in trip advisor. We ended up paying twice as we thought because of a misunderstanding, so at the end, it was not worth it.

Stayed at this hotel many times, it's always a pleasure to return to
The staff do their utmost to ensure you enjoy your stay, due to lack of tourists some of the restaurants are closed but they will cook anything for you if you ask nothing is too much trouble.
I hope people will return soon,it's a beautiful place and very safe.
A big Thank You to everyone at the Sonesta I will be back soon

This is a five star hotel in an amazing position on the Nile. The whole place has a larger than life type of feel. Our bedroom was huge with a Nile view and an amazing bathroom that had all mod cons including a hands-free Japanese toilet that had written instructions and did everything ( well almost) for you. Everything was opulent but well done but actually the best thing was the Nile, slowly gliding by with all kinds of craft on it - lots available to hire. Altogether a truly memorable experience.

This hotel is a very large place and you could almost imagine what it would have been like had the tourists stopped coming. It seemed sadly only partially filled. There are not very many tourists in Egypt right now because of media creating fear of terrorism. These fears are unfounded in Luxor. It is a very peaceful and important city for Egyptian monuments over 3,000 years old.

The hotel has a lovely grand lobby, with plenty of staff on hand to help. Our room was beautiful, decorated in a traditional style and very clean. The best part was our amazing private balcony looking over the Nile! There is also a really nice and large pool in a large area between the hotel and the Nile. Also, you can take a "boat taxi" right from the hotel's access to the Nile. There is a really large patio down by the pool with unlimited tables, chairs, and chaises around the pool. It's the perfect place to spend the day if you want a break from the tremendous amount of sightseeing located in Luxor.

Also, we had no idea that our room came with breakfast. The breakfast is a massive spread of many different options laid out as a buffet. There is even an omelet/egg maker present to make your own delicious omelet.

Stay here and you'll be very satisfied.

P.S. The horse carriage people are annoying and persistent, just remember they are starving for tourist dollars and now they are getting none.

Room Tip: Pick a room with that faces the Nile and has a balcony. You will never forget watching the sun set o...

And another fantastic hotel organised by Quest Travel. This hotel is five star plus in every sense of the word, which sometimes can be a disadvantage when you need a uni degree to use the toilet!!! You know those fancy electronic Japanese ones, I'd much prefer a simple standard toilet that flushes when you press one button - Simple!! Anyhow I think these are only on the top three floors. And the bath/shower cubicle that becomes a steam room and spa all in one with piped music playing. Anyhow, enough about the bathroom, the bed is really comfortable and the food in the restaurants is great and what a view whether from the top floors or the pool deck on the ground floor. There is plenty to do within walking distance and Luxor is an absolute must visit place.

Room Tip: The top three floors are newer, have the better views, bathrooms and those electric toilets!

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 week visit to Sonesta Hotel in Luxor, Egypt. It is a well situated hotel being within easy walking distance of many restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is quite magnificent, please take special note of the fantastic chandelier in the lobby. One of more reassuring aspects of the hotel is the knowledge that, no matter which part of the hotel you may be allocated, your room is going to be immaculate. Sheets are changed daily, towels twice daily. The housekeeping staff are invariably helpful and friendly. Extra pillows, no problem. And I defy you to find a speck of dust!
I will be going back again soon, hope to see you there. If the trouble in Cairo worries you Fear not. There is no trouble in Luxor. You are probably safer in Luxor than in your own town or city.
