This is a dated review, but since there has likely been little tourism, it is probably still helpful.

We stayed at this hotel via a package booked through Your Egypt Tours. In Cairo, they booked us in an amazing 5-star hotel, so we were slightly spoiled. This hotel was fine, just not the luxury we had become accustomed to! We only stayed here one night.

First of all, we arrived in Luxor via the overnight train. This was a horrible experience and I do not recommend it to anyone. We were supposed to depart on the train as well but, splurged and bought flights back to Cairo. Due to lack of sleep on the train, we struggled to enjoy Luxor through our blurry eyes.

The hotel seemed relatively safe, as did the entire town of Luxor, in comparison to Cairo, despite no formal security, a very open air setting, and a location right on the main street. The hotel is right on the Nile, which was nice for a quiet late-night cocktail. After one of our tours, we took a cute boat ride back to our hotel, instead of the bridge. There was a gorgeous pool and lots of space to lay out and enjoy the Egyptian sun, along with the nice hotel bar. Despite that Luxor is more conservative than Cairo, hotels are free space and tourists in swimsuits are acceptable. Hotel staff were not as quick and fluent in English here, but still able to understand it. I did not get an overly welcoming feeling, unless our tour guide was assisting us, though staff were still accommodating. We ate at a restaurant in the hotel complex, which was good albeit slow, and watched a belly dancing show over dinner.

The rooms were rather dark, stuffy, and a little bit dingy. There was notable grime on the walls in all the crevices and on light switches. The bathroom was fairly clean, but without wash cloths, the shower handle was falling apart, and the shower somehow would shoot hot and cold water at the same time (blending issue). Beds were fairly comfortable and we had a nice patio that overlooked the hotel’s interior grounds and beautiful flowering plants.

Overall, I would suggest researching other hotels for a more comfortable stay, but if you are on a budget or get placed here by a tour company, do not stress at it is a descent place to crash.

Room Tip: Request one in tower near Nile and a view.

We stayed only one night (unfortunately) but we will certainly consider it for a longer winter break. Its position on the banks of the Nile could not be better; ideal for visiting the Temple of Luxor, Karnak & Valley of the Kings over a couple of days. The room was very comfortable, food excellent, the service exemplary

After a weeks cruise along the Nile for my 50th birthday we stayed here for a week and what a lovely time we had, you can't fault this hotel and all it's staff they will bend over backwards to help you, we had a Nile room with views over mountains, room was magnificent to say the lest. We stayed half board and there was always plenty to eat and the Nubian restaurant staff couldn't do enough if you found some on the menu you didn't like they would find you something you did and always with a smile. The pool was good a pleasure to sit round the pool boys kept everything clean and they where ready to move your umbrellas if the sun started to move round brilliant :-) the little Nile bar again a pleasure to sit and watch sun go down. The hotel reception was welcoming and friendly the doors where all ways opened for you with a welcoming smile.out side was a eye opener but after a couple of days we got use to the haggling and had a real laugh with quiet a few, I know there are restaurants out side but we didn't feel the need to go any where else as the hotel catered for everything, will we go back of course already booking for next year.
Hopefully this time ill get my sun loungers on my balcony ;-) and a belated birthday cake lol x

We stayed for 3 nights at the Steigenberger, and were very happy with our choice. It was also great value: though we paid less than $60 per night, we had a very well appointed, spacious room with a large terrace and it included an excellent breakfast buffet (with "egg station"). We especially enjoyed the "Nile terrace" in the late afternoon, where we sat and watched the sunset over the river sipping a cocktail. They also have a lovely pool area, though the water was rather cool!

The staff at the front desk and business centre were also very helpful when EgyptAir cancelled our flight to Cairo and put us on a later flight, causing us to worry that we would miss our connection on to Dubai. They made some phone calls to EgyptAir & Emirates for us to let them know of our predicament and to help us make the connection (which we did with no problems in the end).

We only had one meal at the hotel in their "Cafe Delices", which was good, though it took a little long to arrive. Also an ice cream we ordered at the Nile Terrace had clearly been melted and refrozen, and wasn't that nice. I'll put those things down to the fact that there are so few tourists in Egypt at the moment ordering western meals.

I can also recommend one of the local taxi drivers that seem to be attached to the hotel, who goes by the name of "Mr Max". He speaks good English, and is very reasonably priced. We used him to take us to the "west bank" - Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens & Temple of Hatshepsut etc, plus to Karnak, the Luxor Museum etc. He also knew some great local restaurants, and didn't get a "kick-back" from them (unlike many drivers in Cairo).

Visited when tourist trade was low - so quite empty. The rooms were decent and clean. Staff were sometimes less attentive in the bar. Breakfast was good. Great views over the Nile and also swimming pool. Offer a wide range of tours through Thomas Cook which was helpful. Expected more from Tripadvisor reviews. However excellent value for money.
