“Ruined by the locals!”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

Lovely hotel, with staff who cannot do enough for you, very attentive. Particularly in the lebanese resturant, they are fantastic.
DO NOT have a henna tattoo from around the pool, rip off, washed off within a day and went all over the white sheets!
The spa defiantly needs work and doesnt live up to the supposed 5* standard.

Unfortuantley the holiday was ruined by the amount of hassle from the locals, being a young blonde i was apprehensive before i went on the trip and what i feared came true. It was endless from stepping outside of the hotel door, at one point my boyfriend and i were surrounded by locals telling us it wasnt safe for british people etc and we should go with them. It was a very scary experience. We also got spat on when refusing a horse and cart ride.
We also took part in all the excursions; Pyramids, Valley of Kings and Queens etc, all ruined by pestering locals. They just dont seem to understand they all deter people.
I unfortuantley would never return to Luxor.

Thank you for talking the time to post a review. We are pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay at our hotel and found our staff attentive and helpful. Many of our guests, like yourselves, do also enjoy the delights of our Lebanese Restaurant.
We are also sorry that you found that Spa was not of the standard you expected. We always welcome detailed feedback from our guests so that we can continue to improve.
In respect of the henna 'tattoo' we use brown henna which does last only for a day or two. It's considerably safer to use rather than black henna which would lasts about a week.
We are disappointed to know that you were excessively hassled once outside the hotel. What you experienced is not the norm and, as we were not there to witness the actions/reactions of the various incidents, you will appreciate that it would not be appropriate for us to comment.
We do hope that one day you might consider returning to our beautiful Nile-side Hotel.

As a multi-repeat visitor to the Nile Palace the standards and levels of service, comfort and cleanliness are something that you become accustomed to and expect. Once again I have not been dissapointed and leave with a very positive view about the hotel.

One of the larger hotels in Luxor the hotel is situated on the banks of the Nile with direct or indirect views available from many of the rooms (check room type when booking). The swimming pool, lounge bar, sunset bar and a number of the outdoor restaurants all afford great Nile views.

Such a shame that the recet past political unrest has continued to impact so profoundley on tourism levels. My stay coincided with both the recent Presidential elections and the announcement of results, at no time did I witness any unrest or feel uncomfortable either "out and about" in Luxor town or when visiting the surrounding areas. Take note though that entry visa costs have recently risen to US$25, somewhat strange when tourism is said to be key to the economy and recovery.

I enjoyed a very restful and comfortable stay and left feeling well looked after and cared for (and about) by the whole staff team both front of house and behind the scenes. I was pleased to note that since my last visit that the on site spa had reopened following renovations.

Room Tip: There are avariety of room types available that will siit most budgets. Nile view rooms are always a...

Thank you for your kind review. We were delighted to see you again and are pleased that you were, once again, able to relax and enjoy another comfortable stay.
Thank you for mentioning our newly upgraded Gym and recently opened Spa facilities which are situated on the sixth floor. We do strive to improve what we offer on-site and, so far, we are encouraged by the uptake and positive guest comments.
Thank you for also mentioning the new entry visa fees which have been increased slightly.
It's always a pleasure to see you and we look forward to welcoming you again to your 'second home'.

Just back from this hotel it exceeded my expectations. Friendly staff, lovely spacious rooms. As usual in most hotels abroad no tea/coffee facilities but for around £1.40 they will bring you a pot of hot water two tea bags sugar etc on a nicely presented tray by a smiling waiter in double quick time. The pool attendants very attentive putting up your sun brolly and taking the time to chat and be friendly.
We enjoyed a fantastic quality meal in the air conditioned Italian restaurant it was very nice, lovely tasty food. Prices very low with dearest main meal approximately £10. I had two chicken breasts in a tomato sauce and risotto, excellent.
Breakfast was included in price, large selection of produce nothing too much trouble. The poached eggs were excellent and perfect.
Would defiantly go back to this lovely hotel if I went to Luxor again.

We did not stay at this hotel, however, had lunch and dinner here. The food was good and the service excellent. Its a shame that the hotel is so quiet at the moment. However, this is a good time to visit Luxor as there are very few tourists.

We have just returned once again from the Nile Palace, Luxor. Now that Thomson have resumed their holidays to this hotel, l am delighted to say that the very high standards have been maintained since we stayed in 2013.
Although the area is relatively quiet, this has not detracted from the exceptional level of service provided by the staff.
The send-off by the staff was a brilliant way to say farewell until the next time (which will be in September 2014).
Very well done, Nile Palace, keep it up.
Best wishes,
The Scriven family.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for Nile view, well worth the extra.

I've stayed in Luxor for a couple of weeks every year since 1994, usually at the Steigenberger (owned in the early years by the Le Meridien chain). I was looking for rest, relaxation, an opportunity to catch up on some reading and lazing by the pool. As always, my trip was arranged through Kuoni who, incidentally, I strongly recommend.

So, the holiday... Check-in on arrival was slick, friendly and efficient. I was in Room 337 - a direct Nile view room. Spacious, clean and the usual fabulous view, next door to the Zahi Hawass Suite. I was surprised - but not at all fussed - by the mini-bar being empty but I dare say they would have filled it if requested. Wired internet in the room was quite fast, reliable and reasonably priced. The room was cleaned thoroughly once a day.

Breakfasts in the main restaurant remain exceptional. The range of options in the buffet doesn't seem to have been hit by the slump.

Pool clean and the staff there were very good: remembering and pre-preparing the usual sunbed each morning.

The main restaurant was closed in the evenings, as was the Thai restaurant, leaving Lebanese and Italian. I didn't eat at the latter, but the meal at the Lebanese was as good as ever. The bar overlooking the Nile was pleasantly cool and the staff there and at the Courtyard really very good: cheerful and efficient. The evening show - dancers - has been cancelled, which is probably just as well as I was often the only person there.

Experienced the usual hassle outside the hotel, with taxis and caleches swarming around trying to capture the unwary! Just the way it is and always has been - it's all pretty good-natured anyway.

The hotel seemed on many days to be practically deserted, which is sad, but I'm sure things will pick up as the political situation becomes more stable.

Conclusion: A lovely holiday, beautiful weather and a large but friendly and efficient hotel, as always.

Room Tip: Room 337 is the best I've yet stayed in. Go for a high floor room with a direct Nile view and yo...

Thank you for posting such a lovely review here on Trip Advisor.
We were delighted that you were able to make yet another visit to your 'Second Home' in the sun and enjoy a relaxing time poolside.
You are correct in assuming that one phone call from your room to Guest Relations Team would be all that was necessary for your Mini Bar to be filled with assorted drinks and chocolate.
We are pleased that you found the high standards within the hotel were just as you experienced on previous visits.
It is quiet here in Egypt at the moment and this makes it an ideal time to visit and enjoy what is on offer without the large numbers of international tourists which would have been around say some 5 years ago.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to post your review and we will have your sunbed made ready for your next visit.
Best Regards
