Away from the hussle of West Bank, quiet small hotel with nice clean rooms with balconies looking onto lovely courtyard and garden. Convenient for ferries to West Bank. Owner and son were friendly - did not rip us off as some reviewers had warned. In fact they could not have done more to make our stay comfortable. Guide and driver for a day was a good experience. Food was good and service excellent. Try the fish tagine.

We revisited this hotel just for lunch in the restaurant, having stayed at the hotel on a previous occasion. Meals are taken in a peaceful tree lined garden. The food is home-cooking style at mid-range prices (about $10 each) but whole world away from the standard offerings in the usual Egyptian mid-range eatery. The staff, including the owner and his son, are delightfully charming and welcoming.

Our previous stay in the hotel was equally enjoyable.

The Amon is located five minutes walk from the ferry stage on Luxor's west bank.

Based on more than 20 years travelling in this country I am able to recommend Amon Hotel absolutely.

Recently travelled to Luxor from Hurghada, with my family, and we had excellent value for money and could not have asked for a more personal service. I would recommend you stay on the West Bank where generally the people are alot more friendly in a more genuine way!
Ahmed and Mohamed and all the staff made us feel so welcome and special, but would recommend you update the towels!
These guys can arrange all your trips, including boats, cars and taxi's, all good value and all with a smile and very knowledgable. Friends and I will be returning very soon.

I stayed in the Amon Hotel in January 2010 for four days. I read the reviews on the Amon hotel at this site before I booked. Some of the reviews were bad, most were very good. The bad reviews were all from people who stayed there some time ago. I asked the staff about these reviews. They gave me an explanation, but I don't know whether that story was true or not. Most likely these stories were true at the time. I felt the staff now really understands the power of reviews on the Internet. They really did their best to make my stay a very pleasant one. They were very friendly and helpful. I had an excellent stay over there. Next time I go to Luxor, I think I will go to this hotel again.

I travelled with my friend and our 12 year old daughters.
This is a greeat hotel from which to explore Luxor - away from the hustle and bustle of the East bank, but easily accessible by the public ferry. The hotel is a peaceful sanctuary in an almost rural location, with a beautiful garden, nice rooms and balconies (we stayed in the older building) overlooking the countryside. The staff were so friendly and accommodating - the owner and his son especially - lovely breakfasts served in the beautiful garden. All at areasonable price! We combined a couple of really good trips organised with the hotel, and adventures we organised ourslves - a perfect combination for us. Happy memories, always. Thank you Amon.

I stayed at the Amon Hotel in April 2010 during a visit to Luxor with two of my brothers. It's family owned and that definitely comes through in how well guests are treated there. My bag didn't arrive from Cairo and the staff at the hotel was extremely helpful in sorting that out! It's extremely clean and comfortable-- the garden between the older building and new is gorgeous and a great place to eat and relax. It's also nice being on the west bank-- it's a bit quieter than the east. I highly recommend it and will be staying there again if I ever find myself in Luxor again!
