A fairly standard Egyptian 3 star, but with much better service than is usual in Egypt. The room is clean and functional. The shower could do with replacing (be aware that it can take a while for the hot water to come through) as it's old and crotchety, but it works. The pool didn't get any sun while I was there, so swimming was out. Lot of the menu is British food, which is a bit odd. I had a chicken tagine which was okay, generally the food seemed good enough at the price - and the drinks are cheap! Beware the prices in the bedroom folder. It quotes a haircut at 50LE, whereas I was charged 70. I don't know how accurate everything else is, so probably worth checking before you order.

The thing that really makes this hotel stand out is the quality of the staff. They are really exceptional for Egypt - friendly without being pushy, helpful without demanding money, smiling and happy with no sullen sulky types to spoil your day.

If you want somewhere cheap and clean to put your head at the end of a day's sightseeing, this is a good place for it.

I stayed at the Gaddis for 9 nights and it is a great budget hotel for those who simply want a hot shower, a clean room and a comfy bed to sleep in. It was a great base for us and it is ideally located a 15 minute walk away from the Corniche. Some sites state it has a nile view, which it does, from the roof! However, the roof is a nice place to catch the sun and you get a nice sunset view as well.

We had freeview in the room (I got to watch the Man Utd v Man City game, so footy is available) and there was a small balcony to sit out on. There are security boxes available and there are fridges in the rooms. The only downside to the room is there was no kettle available.

Nightlife is a little grim, unless you are a fan of ropey karaokes and dodgy discos, but it was all good fun. Cocktails are around £3 each and they are buy one get one free.... again, great for people on a budget.

The meals are very nice; except for breakfast, which I found revolting! The evening meals are very nice though.

The staff we extremely helpful, friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to stay in the Gaddis again.

Stayed at the Gaddis, 17-24 Oct 2011, male single traveller.
Having reveiwed in depth previous reviews of this hotel I decided to take the plunge, I had been using the El Murcure on six previous visits to Luxor. I can honestly say what a good decision as the Gaddis is a GREAT BASE for EXPLORING Luxor and all it has to offer. Yes lets be honest it maybe a little tired looking but you get what you pay for. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive and the General Manager, Mr Hany Nasry is always floating around ensuring his guests are enjoying their stay and will assist you with any questions or travel plans you need to make, I will be returning to this hotel for future visits.

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night ad part of our tour package. The rooms, facilities, free internet were ok. The pool was a pleasent surprise. It is conveniently located next to McDonalds and KFC.

We also had a hilarious time listening to all the folks doing karaoke at the hotel eatery.

Recently returned to this Hotel, once again had a fabulous stay. The Gaddis is reasonably priced, clean, with good food, helpful staff and great management. The hotel is at present being re decorated and updated, this does not however cause any problems to guests. The staff and management are helpful, caring and attentive, they aim to make your stay a pleasurable experience, all requests, whether dietry, personal, or just general are possible. Many guests return time after time to this hotel, new guests always state they would return and definately stay here, most of them do return. Another plus for this hotel is the British Conculate has their office here.

The food is varied and caters to all tastes and dietry requirements are catered for on request. There is a beauty salon on site for hair, nails, pedicures, massage and more reasonably priced, the laundry service is excellent and cheap. Also on site is a very nice gift shop. Air con is in all rooms.

The hotel is a great base, safe and secure for your trip to Luxor, as a older woman travelling alone I always feel safe here and have a wonderful time.

Thanks to all at the Gaddis, hope to see you all again soon.

Room Tip: The rooms on all floors 04-09 balconys face the pool, not the main road, the apartments are fabulous as well
