We visited this hotel the last week in March for a week to chill out with guaranteed sun. The weather was fantastic 30+ degrees everyday and not a cloud in site. The hotel was very nice and would say that it was 4*. By day it was just what we needed, it was very quiet and relaxing by the pool. By night though it was too quiet as there was no evening entertainment at all. There was only 1 bar (which is very dark !) but even this was very quiet as the AI finishes at 10pm and everyone seems to go to bed very early to get up for trips.
The restaurant serves a typical AI buffet. Fine for 1 week but nothing special and any longer than 1 week would have got a bit monotenous. Breakfast was the best meal of the day. There is a chinese and an italian restaurant but this is not included in the AI option although you get 30 Egyptian pounds pp towards meals there. The Italian is so cheap though that we had starters and mains and only paid £8 towards it. It's a shame that they aren't included for free as it would encourage more people to eat there and give a little more atmosphere.
The hotel grounds are very small (but pleasant) so nowhere to walk in the evenings. We did venture out the hotel one evening for a walk but you do get a lot of hassle as you would expect which can get tiresome.
The bedroom was spacious and we had a view of the nile. Single beds, sheets and blankets weren't ideal.
There is a small gym. If you decide to have a massage, this is done in the gym behind a curtain so you take a chance on whether it will be relaxing or whether you will be in the middle of someones workout. We paid 200 EP each for massages.

One of the main reasons why we chose this hotel was because it had a gym and it was meant to be a 5-star. Unfortunately the equipment was so outdated and the majority (if not all) of it was broken. In fact, some of the equipment was actually dangerous to use. It was very disappointing. We also paid extra to have a Junior Suite. Whilst the room was o.k. (definately not what I would call a suite), the standard of the cleaning was very poor. The dirt around the edge of the carpet was very noticeable (although not to the cleaner) and the dust all over the TV and the patio windows clearly had been there for a number of days, possibly weeks. We had a kettle in our room but each day we had to phone Housekeeping after the room had been cleaned to request tea/coffee as the cleaner had not left any. I can only assume that this was done so a tip would be given each time they had to come to the room with the tea/coffee. We found the food in the restaurants adequate. Thankfully we found a great restaurant/pub about 5 mins walk from the hotel.

We stayed in this hotel from 28th December to 6 th January 2010. Which meant we were there for the New years eve gala dinner.
We arrived at Luxor tourist airport and were swiflty guided throough to pay our fee for entering the country. Once done and baggage collected without any hassle we were on our way. Fantastic short transfer to hotel along the banks of the River Nile. Hotel on forst impressions looked quite Grand from the outsdide and has a huge reception area on the inside. We were shown to our room which was on the 4th floor facing the Nile. I mean the Nile was about 30ft away. Unfortunately it was a room without a balcony but a large sliding opening window.
The view was breathtaking. I had to keep rminding myself that I was on the banks of the River Nile where many a religious event happened. Not being religious myself but it is a nice story.
The bedroom was very sparse and basic and the beds were like rocks. There was a fridge but no safety deposit box, the one i reception was a waste of space as it would not fit very much in it atall.
Once we had unpacked we went off round the grounds for an explore . We were pleasantly surprised at how pretty the gardens and the pool area was. There were 2 pools one of which was heated.
We ate out of the Hotel that night at a plcae recommended by a guy called Siiamon who had a horse and carriage outside the hotel. Don't be put off by what the reps say about these guys, just make sure you negotiate first and that the price of the trip includes the Horse! They will take you wherever you want to go, wait for you and bring you back. They will of course try and introduce you to family and friends and friend's businesses but you just have to say a polite No thank you or La Shokran. They get the message, just let them know who is in charge. The pound is very good out there and things are very reasonable. If you don't like haggling or hassle........don't go!
Wewent round old Luxor on our first night, through the back streets so he could buy his beer and his Marajuana..yes MARAJUANA! It was quite funny really and at no time did we feel in danger. We are quite well travelled so are quite good at looking out for oursleves. Besides they rely so much on tourism that they cannot afford bad press.
Breakfast in the hotel is lovely. Loads of choice and the staff look after you for a couple of pounds a week. The pools areas are really quite nice there is no loud blaring music like in hotels in Europe so I enjoyed the peace. You would not believe how noisy and frenetic it is outside the hotel because it is like a little peaceful oasis within the hotel complex.
The facilities like the gym leave a lot to be desired, so we did'nt bother. The sun was perfect for the time of year. We ventured down to the river bank to book one of the little boats. These guys work from the Hotel so they are the most trustworthy. Really friendly guys, invite you on board for a cup of Egyptian tea. I loved them.
Amazing pictures of their faces which they didn't mind posing for.
We ate in the Chinese on the complex one night........not good. We ate in the ITALIAN 3 times and the food was consistently good. We had the New years eve Gala which was very Egyptian. It was a bit unorganised but they did their best so we appreciated that. We escaped at about 11pm and went down to the Shisha bar next to the Nile on the Complex. Thjis is a place we spent a lot of time as the staff were so friendly and very relaxed. It was a great place to go late afternoon when the sun goes away from the heated pool about 415pm. Lovely and we would watch the beautiful sun sets from there.
You must go out on one of the litle boats and get across to the valley of the Kings. It has to be done as it is amazaing the tombs are incredible. We only went in 3 of them because it would be quite expensive to visit them all, it was so busy and very very warm in the tombs. Not for the Claustrophobic! We used a taxi driver on the west bank called Shakespeare who wasa character and his English was excellent. This was arranged through the guy who took us across in the boat. It really is a afabulous place. We had a great time and never once felt concerned for our safety..anywhere. The hotel was lovely, even the hard beds and the basic decor didn't put us off. The Egyptians are lovely people who will go out of their way to please you.
Don't buy anything in the Hotel shops as they will try to rip you off. If ypou venture just putside the hotel there are a couple of shops where you can buy bottled water, coke, beer etc for a fraction of the cost. We would definately go back there again. If you have been to Sharm and thought "never again" try Luxor as the people are fantastic. We even loved the call to prayer after a few days. It's great to hear that in it own environment, it was alovely special holiday.
When you book though make sure you ask for Nile facing room as it is incredibly noisy at the front...
I would grade this Hotel as A High 3* not a 4*
Very big spacious room but very basic.

we arrived to find the we had a street facing room which we upgraded to a nile view for $20 per night. but the room they gave was very nice with a long balcony and a relaxing view of the back of the hotel and the nile.
the hotel have their own shops inside but make sure you haggle as they will up the price almost 300% of its value. The hotel does have an old tennis court, sqash room, table tennis but these come with a charge. not too much. oh yea and also a gym.
The swimming pools are nice whoever a bit cold.
The shisha area was amaxin we spend most of your evenings there watching the sun set whilst having tea and sisha. wonderful. We didnt have to leave the hotel because they pretty much had everything we needed
It is a very busy hotel and staff are friendly and helpful with not catch,
We would like to stay in this hotel again if we came back to Luxor, however i would not mind staying in the Steraton which is down the road.

however overall this hotel is great value for money and would recommend it to a family member.

From February 4th. I stayed 3 weeks in this hotel.
Any changes? Yes! The quality of the dinner buffet increased! More and more rooms in the hotel have been redecorated in a style I enjoy very much. Because of prosponed national schoolholidays (former swine flue) there were many Egyptian hotelguests from Cairo and Alexandria. These schoolholidays normally take place in January. So if you prefer a more quiet breakfast restaurant, then do not book for January and the first weeks of February. Then breakfast buffet might be overcrowded.
I prefer to mention the continuance of good, friendly and personal service of the staff members of the hotel. They work there for many many years, and that is a result of good hotel management.
I also had a stay In Pyramisa Isis Island in Aswan, and used the free bus shuttle between the 2 hotels. There was a free room available in Aswan, and I used a copy of my hotelvoucher for that. The reception in Isis Luxor informs about availability of room space in Isis Island.
I made my usual early booking for October 28 this year, and look forward to stay in the Pyramisa Isis Hotel in Luxor again.

Whilst visiting Luxor to see the temples and Valleys of the Kings and Queens we had lunch there and stayed for one night with evening meal. Bedroom was OK overlooking the Nile. Food was not good and very little choice. I had a caterpillar in my broccoli - oh well a little more protien!! Service quite slow.
Pool facilities looked OK, but would not have wanted to stay longer to find out.
