Owner description: This desert valley contains the ancient burial ground of many Egyptian pharaohs. Among over 60 royal tombs is the famous Tomb of Tutankhamen that was found in pristine condition.

Always wanted to visit the tombs and we were not disappointed. However be prepared to travel as early as possible due to the high temperatures. We booked the tour with a local travel company in Luxor which was around 50% cheaper than booking it via our tour operator

Coming to Egypt you must see Valley of the Kings. Seeing the tombs and feel the history is amazing.
I recommend that you book a local guide. For example Eye of Horus Tours

Only three tombs open but was better than previous visits. we had time to really look at the wall carvings and soak in the experience
It was nice to be free from the usual hassle of local vendors.

This is the heritage of ancient civilization but honsetly there is not much left to see. I visited 3 tombs - they are more less the same. Of course you can see great painitngs and hieroglifs on the walls but all the items were moved to Cairo museum. There are no information in the tombs regarding the meaning of the paintings.
