“Great experience and to see the valley from a height”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

Amr, the pilot was knowledgeable and experienced and somehow managed to land back at the launch site. Though this only happens 1 in a 100 times. Fortunate for us. Good views and there were only 5 people on the flight and so some of the crew came on board to balance the balloon. A good experience and Egypt being so quiet, it was only 300EP (under £30 each) Luxor was exceptionally quiet with some 60 cruise ships all moored by the banks of Luxor. Early- mid Dec 2013 we had the tombs, Nile and all the famous sites virtually to ourselves. Pick up from hotel about 5am and then back by 8am. About 45 minutes in the air.

“Lifetime experience”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

We took the hot air balloon ride with Hod Hod Soliman company during our stay in Luxor...We started 5 in the morning and had no idea of what was going to follow..Our tour guide and pilot accompanied us to the site and gave general instructions on take off and landing...Once off the land it seemed like time had come to a stand still..there was dry desert valley on one side and a lush green fields on the other side...Our pilot kept us busy showing all he could ...hatshepsut temple, valley of kings, valley of queens, Ramses III ruins, Colossi of memnon and then the sunrise came and seemed to complete the story...The landing was smooth and out one hour journey in the air seemed like the best part of the whole Egypt trip...The company itself with its amazingly friendly people helped making the experience even more joyful.>When in Luxor do go the Hot Air Ballooon with Hod Hod Suliman and all you would experience is a lot of surprises and joy to end with a certificate of accomplishment from them to have ridden on the balloon :)

“Glad we did it!”
Reviewed 14 June 2013

Hot air ballooning in Luxor has a bad press, but we're glad we went on a balloon trip on the last morning of our holiday. It is a bit nerve-wracking (I think I can now understand people with fear of flying!) but I had confidence in our pilot, even if he was wearing what looked like a Blue Peter badge... There are a lot of worthwhile sights/photo opportunities, from the balloons being inflated, to temples, tombs and the Nile from a new angle, goatherds in the fields and chickens on roofs, wind-carved sands and the foundations of buildings, ending with the hillock or gravel pile on which you are likely to land. It's important to listen to the pilot's advice on which way to face when you do land (it can be bumpy - we saw one lady on our flight facing the wrong way, but fortunately she wasn't hurt). Bring some tip money for the ground crew (there is a tip jar), bus/boat driver and the pilot (if you like). The certificates you get at the end have a unique charm and we will definitely treasure them!
The only negative comments I can make (and the reason why this is not a five star review) are that our balloon was the last to go up and we just missed the sunrise (not a major deal, but it could be for some people - Hod Hod could avoid this by being better organised), and that the flight is pretty short (only about half an hour).
