We arrived (my teenage son and I) hot and tired on the night train and Ashraf was at the station (with his brand new people mover) to pick us up. Arriving at the hotel we were welcomed with a glass of ice cool fresh lemonade. Our room was prepared while we had breakfast on the rooftop restaurant. Although it was a wicked 43deg during the day, we retreated to our aircon room in the afternoons for a well deserved siesta.
The hotel location is wonderful - our balcony overlooked the local ferry crossing across the nile - just far enough away not to be noisy. It was interesting to watch people coming and going from dawn till the wee hours. Travelling by local ferry across the Nile into Luxor was cheap, quick and fun e.g going across the Nile in the dark to visit the Temple of Luxor all lit up in the dark.
The hotel arranged our trips outside Luxor - by motor launch down the river to the Temple of Karnak (wonderful - much better way to arrive than by tour bus!) and a visit to the Valley of the Kings. Finally, Ashraf took us to the airport to fly out.More
