“Perfect location with free wi-fi!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2012

The hotel is next to market and the location is good for travelling with all types of vehicles (near train station & have lots of local minivans pass by not too far from the pier as well)

The hotel have a roof top restaurant with excellent view of Luxor temple at sunset.
The staffs are very responsive and helpful and most important is they have Free Wi-Fi provided all floors!!

The Nefertiti is simply the perfect budget hotel. Decent rooms, beautiful roof top restaurant, extremely kind and helpful staff (thanks again Mohammed!). And all of this for a very low price. Through Aladin Tours, based in the hotel, we were also able to make use of the short time we had to visit the best of Luxor. Only thing I regret is that we didn't stay longer.
Strongly recommended.

Lovely, affordable, centrally located...honestly I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The manager Ahmed is friendly and very knowledgable, ready to help you with a tour or directions around town. The terrace has a great view and yummy complementary breakfast, the shower water pressure was the best I've had in Egypt, and the restaurant next door is a great find as well. Overall I had an amazing time and would completely recommend it :)

We came the second time, my wife even for the third time after 5 years. The hotel is the best budget hotel of the city and even I don't think of a budget hotel as the restaurant attached (you can sit downstairs or on the roof) has excellent food for affordable prices. The roof is beautiful in Egyptian style, very large and equipped with nice furniture. The view is spectacular as the hotel is located opposite the Luxor temple complex and the Sphinx road that will finally connect to Karnak temple one day. You overlook the whole scenery from the Luxor temple and behind the Nile and the mountains of Thebes. As the weather is everyday sunny you can't miss a great shot. Don't forget to stay upstairs at sunset with a mango milkshake (with house-made ice-cream) or a sahlab (the traditional Egyptian drink). There is an internet area on the roof and a sundeck above the rooms on that level. Internet is available as well as Wi-Fi for free throughout the hotel but some rooms have not. Anyway, nobody wants to sit in the room for internet. Internet access is very important to us. Of course, most people come for holidays to Luxor and to this hotel. We found during the 2 weeks in this hotel in January and April 2012 many people from all continents and ages. Sometimes there are larger groups but as well many individuals and couples.
The rooms are simple but have everything you need for your stay, including air-conditioning, on-suite bathroom, TV, fridge, and dark curtains which make you sleep as the sun is intense. The rooms are very clean, we were staying in different rooms on our visits. Don't expect large spaces, the rooms are just what you need, not more, not less. Depending on how busy the nights it can happen that you hear some noise from the people sitting in the coffee shops downstairs, otherwise it is quite. The entrance is in a passage to the souq. Breakfast is on the roof; you may want to ask an omelet or pancake as you like. The breakfast is very good for a budget hotel.
The staff of the hotel is very alert to make your stay as comfortable as possible and is very friendly. Tourism picked up this month quite a bit. I found many tours offered by the in-house tour operator. Earlier this week, when working till late night on my laptop and found a member of staff being up all night to ensure that all tourists are awake for their early-morning hot balloon trip on Luxor- West Bank.
In general, Luxor is a busy place. The hotel location is very central as you walk 10 sec to the souq, 5 min to the ferry/boats to West Bank, 10 min to the railway station, 5 min to the Caleches (horse carriages) at Luxor temple, 10 min to Winter Palace Hotel (Agatha Christie's place) with beautiful garden.
Taxis are in front of the hotel, sometimes as well a horse carriage. As both will never stop to bother you to go with them, the best way to overcome it (if you don't want their services) is to ignore their questions or answer a friendly "Shukran" (which can be too much sometimes). A short taxi trip costs is at least 10 pounds (EUR 1.25) which should not be discussed as the prices for fuel rose a lot over the last weeks. A good advice is to negotiate the amount before you start and make sure that you make clear for what you pay. I saw Egyptians paying in advance when the are entering the vehicle. Caleches I have no experience with but there you should be very careful and determining of what you pay. But times are more difficult and people like to have business so the rides seem to be very affordable now.
A good advice is to arrange airport transfer from Luxor International which gives you peace of mind and no complex negotiations as you won't make it cheaper there yourself upon arrival.
Overall, a very good experience.

By the way, if you need to buy phone cards, the small shops (particularly on the souq) like to ask half a pound per 10 EGP extra as their margin is very small. If you want to avoid the 0.06 EUR extra charge you need to go to supermarkets or the official phone shops.

This hotel represents an excellent value for budget travellers to Luxor -- we paid a bit less than LE 70/night for a triple room and were rewarded with private baths, a/c, daily maid service, and a hearty breakfast including cooked-to-order eggs.

Staff is friendly and helpful, but you may want to look around when purchasing tours and taxi services in order to avoid paying commission -- that is possible to avoid with a little effort.

Maid service is exceptional -- the house cleaning staff works very, very hard at this hotel and even put towel animals on your bed.

Its highlight is its beautiful rooftop deck (two levels) overlooking the Luxor Temple and West Bank (on which an entire mountain is illuminated at night).

Although some of the restaurant meals looked decent, desserts were not so great: in particular, the worst chocolate cake of my life (something like moist brown sponge cut in triangles).

Further, the hotel would be well served by paying attention to details and consistency: some rooms were quite a bit nicer than others for the same price and some towels and sheets were ragged and/or stained (surely the fault of the hotel owners for not replacing them, and not the excellent housekeeping staff).

It speaks to the value of this hostel and its friendly, warm staff that the minor faults above were easily overlooked.

Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, although steer clear of its sweets.

Room Tip: Before agreeing on a room, ask to look at several. Also, some rooms overlooking a nearby alley where...

I stayed for nearly one week in Luxor at Nefertiti Hotel, and found the staff, particularly Mohammad who organizes the tours, to be extremely helpful and friendly. All the staff worked hard to make us feel welcome and like we were part of their family, and we felt as though they went above and beyond. We took part in many of the tours offered, and found everything to be exactly as was advertised--tour guides were professional and knowledgable, and everything was tailored to our requirements. Mohammad easily organized a tour of Cairo for us, including tickets for the sleeper train, and we also were able to take a cruise to Dendara. I had issues with my plane ticket (booked at home), and he was quick to help me fix the problem.

The hotel is comfortable and clean, and the rooftop terrace is a great place to chill out. I would definitely stay here again if I were to come back to Luxor.
