5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

After three stays at this hotel over a span of four years my stay here has been nothing short of wonderful. First impressions do count and when I first arrived with a friend, four years ago at 5am, we were greeted with warm welcome and fresh lemon juice (still a favorite to this day), then shown to our very clean room shortly after. My friend and I felt this was the right place within the first few minutes! I returned two years later with my dad and sister and had the same wonderful greeting after arriving early in the morning from Cairo. I have since returned as a solo backpacker and am still amazed at the hospitality. In all of these trips, we didn't want tours with loads of people so they arranged a guide for just us, which was still inexpensive. We also had drivers who made us feel safe. For anyone that has been to Egypt, they know the driving can be a bit erratic if they're used to a western style of obeying traffic lights and such, but we always felt safe driving with their drivers! The location is perfect. Train station is within walking distance, as is the main bus station, restaurants galore, shopping/souvenirs because the hotel is right off of the souq (be sure to hone your negotiating skills). To top off the experience, the staff can and DO help with any random need you may have (and my family had them)! Oh, and the views are like few others in Egypt, and the world for that matter. On the roof terrace you can see Luxor Temple, the Nile, and the Valley of the Kings, which when lit up at night is phenomenal! With your morning tea, these views help your mind wonder about life in ancient Egypt. After four years of occasional trips to Egypt, the family that owns this hotel makes sure that all of your expectations are met! I will always return to the Nefertiti along with any family or friends that travel with me. If you want to really see and breathe Luxor and Upper Egypt, Nefertiti is the right place!

We really enjoyed our stay at Nefertiti Hotel as it is centrally located and the staff was extremely professional and kind. From the rooftop terrace, you have an amazing view over the Nile and Luxor temple. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated, only the AC was very noisy. The offered tours by the hotel are also very good value and easy to be arranged. All together we recommend to stay at the Nefertiti Hotel as it is great value for money and you feel like at home.

Great location, amazing view from the top, where you can have a nice dinner and enjoy both the Nile and the Luxor Temple. People at the reception were helpful and made my stay unforgettable. I spent a lot of time talking to them and it was a nice way of getting to know more about their culture and way of life. It is a great option to stay in Luxor, considering price and value.

Just got back from Egypt and catching up with reviews of places we stayed at.
We originally booked the Nefertiti for 3 weeks and planned to travel to various other places using it as a base.
We arrived very late (03.00) due to our luggage not making the transfer at Cairo. Of course not the hotels fault. On arrival at the hotel we were shown to a room on the top floor (no lift 8 or was it 9 flights of stairs?). The implication was 'best room'. Double bed and 2 singles! and air con blasting out heat, At that point we were unable to adjust it and who cares at 03.00.
Breakfast was dismal at best, a couple of small slices of cheese and meat curling at the edges, dry bread rolls, yogurt and fruit. Orange juice that had colour but no flavour what so ever.
That evening we returned and had a go at setting up the Aircon, No joy, stuck at 35.6. It didn't help that there was a festival going on in front of Luxor Temple (line dancing meets whirling dervishes, volume set for the deaf). Went to reception re noise being beamed into our room and aircon problems.
Given another room. Same floor, aircon also stuck at 35+ and hand controller had no batteries. Got the guy from reception, he swapped batteries but still no control of the aircon. I might add that this room had 4 single beds jammed next to each other!!
Given the keys for another room (this room swapping was all on the top floor). The aircon here was simply broken. Went and got the guy again. Taken to another room on the edge of the seating area. Success - the aircon worked, so we moved in.
Next morning the toilet wouldn't flush but was fixed by the evening.
That evening I went for a shower and heard my wife scream out. I rushed out to find myself paddling around the bedroom. The shower had flooded the bedroom and there was a severe danger of electrocution as we had items charging on the floor.
We had had enough by now! So took our selves off to the Sonesta and used their Wifi to book the Iberotel! Went back to The Nefertiti and collected half our luggage, getting the rest in the morning.
The Nefertitis website shows photos that bare little resemblance to the current state of the place, It is very shabby, the photos are years out of date, where was the Sun Bath?

We are very seasoned travellers, from sleeping rough in the Sahara to 5* hotels in the USA. We do not mind ruffing it, but there has to be a limit to what you put up with.

Room Tip: Book some where else!

The locations was excellent, the rooms were clean and stylish, the food was delicious and reasonable priced (plus you can chose to eat in your room, on the roof, or in the street patio), and the rooftop terrace has a view of the Nile and Luxor temple that is absolutely stunning. Not to mention, the staff went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. They were very respectful, they helped me book my tours (sunrise balloon ride and sunset felucca cruise) through their awesome agency and they even gave me tips on things to be aware of as a female solo traveler. Moreover, I felt at home while at Nefertiti and developed great friendships with the staff. I could not have been happier with my stay! I know I will definitely be back soon!

The hotel has a very good location, it is located in front of the Luxor temple and it has a great view from the rooftop. We also booked a day trip with them which was very good (it had a driver, air conditioned vehicle and guide included), They were able to arrange an english guide for us on the night before the tour. Our guide, Mansour, could speak english fluently and helped us in every aspect like getting cheap water during the tour and handle the hucksters.
