A Monday night in Nairobi, dinner at Talisman.
Full house, a warm welcome towards a nicely laid table, next to the fire-place.
Guests enjoying drinks, couples having dinner, and waiters who know how to serve in such a busy restaurant, with a big smile, answering every question in a knowledgeable way.
Interesting wine-list, original menu, I liked the tuna starter, and the beef filet, was the best we had so far in Nairobi.
We enjoyed the local artwork, for sale, by African artists, changing regularly, according to the owner’s wife. An extra reason to enjoy a dinner at Talisman ; food, art and drinks, in a cosy and international ambiance, the place to be in Nairobi. We’ll be back.

A much better menu under the new owners and chef! Home made Ice Cream rather than the fluroscent Kenyan shop bourght ice cream would make a big difference!

We recently spent four days in Nairobi and ate twice at the Talisman. The first time was so good that we had to return! I had read somereivews on TA before booking at Talisman. I must say I was a bit skeptical since almost all of them were from local people, and I thought the restaurant might have "gamed" the reviews. Be assured that is not the case.

We were greeted warmly, served very nicely and had great and reasonable food. The restaurant is in one of the suburbs of Nairobi--Karen. If you are coming from the city, you will need to engage a taxi and negotiate a price with them. We paid the equivalent of about $ 20.00 round trip, but our driver waited while we had our meal which was over a two hour wait plus driving time. However, even factoring that cost in, the Talisman is very reasonable for what you get.

It not only in one of the best restaurants in Niaiobi, it could hold its own anywhere. The chef checked on our meal to see if we were satisfied and talked to us a bit after diner. However, it is the food that is the star at the Talisman. It is tops

Granted I was staying in Karen, but I ended up going to the Talisman 4 times in one week it was that good. Feta cheese samosa and the glazed pork belly starters are definitely recommended as was the sushi platter which was given an fresh and interesting twist by the chef. Every main course I have had there has also been excellent, particularly the steaks and mushroom risotto. They also have a very good wine list and an intimate cosy bar where you can go for just a few drinks or for drinks before and after your meal. And with the a choice of sitting inside the restaurant, or outside next to the garden or even next to the large outdoor fireplace you won't be disappointed with the setting.
