Lunch at the Lord Erroll was part of our safari package. We found the staff not particullarly friendly when we arrived after a 5 hour drive. The setting is very nice as the tables are overlooking a garden with some beautiful plants and birds. Unfortunately the food was reminisant of my days at an English boardingschool. This was probably the worst food we have eten in Kenya. The soep was not fresh but I am sure out of a tin. The buffet was as I said English food reminisent of the bad old days of bad English cooking. The vegtables were out of a pot or tin!! The rest was cooked to a pulp. The desert was a catering style shop bought mouse thing - no other way to describe it.
Wat made it worse is when we were finished we discovered that our poor driver was not even given a drink or a shady place to sit but was made to sit in the boiling hot sun in the car oark!!

Very nice restaurant for pleasant lunch, dinner or happy hour drinks. Like being in English club room. Verandah area is very nice and watch the birds and cats from there. The friday buffet lunch was very good value for money, service was excellent, and it was a pleasant and relaxing lunch in quiet surroundings. Would recommend it even though it is some distance to get to, but worth the trip. I understand the Sunday brunch is also very good. Will try that next time.

Did a dinner with my husband at this exclusive restaurant. Though we couldn't locate it easy at first, the dining experience made up for that. we were treated to a lovely dinner

I understand from other reviews that this restaurant is distinctive for its lovely grounds and resident population of crested cranes, none of which could be appreciated from the verandah in the dark. The atmosphere was pleasant and the outdoor seating was a bit of good luck as the dining room was crowded and somewhat noisy. The service on a weeknight was friendly and prompt enough. The food was entirely unremarkable. My steak was thin and not very tender, the dessert just average and the meal did not live up to the restaurant's reputation. Perhaps a long lunch at lower cost with a better view would have yielded a more enthusiastic review.

I will also note that the ambience was definitely "colonial" and the diners during my visit did not reflect the cultural or racial diversity of Nairobi.

Good food and relaxing atmosphere. The buffet was good but not exceptional. They did accommodate the young children by making them pasta. Kenya's national birds were walking freely in and around the property. Beautiful landscape. It is located at 89 Ruaka Road, Runda Estate, in Nairobi not far from the Village Market. We went there after going to the Masa Market -- which moves around all the time we were told. The restaurant looked somewhat like a private club but we did enjoy it as it wasn't crowded.
