Cheap and very tasty. Casual atmosphere, tasteful decor, pleasant and quick service, and food so much better than Habesha! The selection and preparation, even on the combos, was indeed slightly different than your typical Ethiopian place. Altogether awesome.

I've always been a fan of Smart Village since my first visit. This last visit was excellent--probably the best food I've had there yet. Of course the Shiro and the Veg Platter are excellent and the Barbecue Chicken (Kuku Choma) is really good.

I like that Smart Village is a bit more low key then other Ethiopian places in the area and I always feel comfortable lounging at an outside table for a few hours working or talking before or after my meal.

This is my best Ethiopian Restaurant. I cannot even compare it to Habesha. This is a great place, that has great value for your money.

Although the Smart Village passes for an Ethiopian restaurant, the food is really prepared and served in the Eritrean style by the family running the establishment.
I had dinner there with friends and the taste of the food, while indeed in the Ethiopian mainstream, was nevertheless slightly - and refreshingly - different. Especially the njera did not have the extremely sour taste that is typical of Ethiopian food at other restaurants around Nairobi.
Good quality matched by more than decent prices made the experience a very enjoyable one.
