“I've stayed at the Fairview 3 times now...”
Reviewed 13 October 2010

I've stayed at the Fairview 3 times now and am disappointed I can't stay there on this my 4th visit to Nairobi. Staff are friendly and efficient, several choices for where and what to eat, WiFi, decent rooms, decent price. Very recommended.

....it's the best!!! Don't know if previous happy posters mentioned but there is free internet access in the rooms to use with your own computer. We always travel with a "netbook".

Totally impressed by friendlinesss and service. The garden is superb and the restaurent upstairs (forgot the name) is exquisite. A quiet place within the crowded city.
I have stayed in many hotels in Nairobi and can highly recommend Fairview.

We were on an organised trip that started in nairobi and we arrived a few days earlier.
The hotel with its gardens and swimming pool make it an ideal place to have a rest. The rooms are clean and quiet. Breakfast was excellent and we had dinner in the restaurant which also proved to be a good choice. The room had a safe and tv. I can only recommend the hotel

We stayed for 10 nights at the Fairview and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. Being slightly out of the city centre it was much quieter and the air was cleaner. The gardens are beautiful and it is hard to believe you are in a city, particularly at night when the garden is floodlight and the bullfrogs are calling. The staff are excellent, friendly and very professional. The hotel is also very secure, partly due to the proximity to the Israeli Embassy, a major concern in Nairobi. There are four restaurants, all serving excellent food but the highlight was dining in the fine dining Pango restaurant, which was as good as many London restaurants. We opted for a First Class room which was very spacious and gave us access to the First Class lounge which was well appointed with free Internet access and fdree coffee, tea and nibbles. Our main reason for going was to visit the Sheldrick Elephant Rescue Centre which I highly recommend and the hotel is well placed for getting out of the city traffic and out to Langata. We mentioned the beds were a little hard and praised individual staff in our customer satisfaction survey and were notified as soon as we arrived home that the staff had been rewarded and that the beds were being improved the following month. An excellent hotel which I thoroughly recommend

To be honest you get the feeling that Nairobi isn't really a place worth staying in for long, and most people are passing through. So all you want is a safe, clean and comfortable place to stay. We stayed there for one night on the way out to safari and before flying on to Zanzibar. It's fine, but the hotel is mostly full of business people so it has a bit of a 'workmanlike'quality about it. It's nice enough though, and the sushi is pretty good - don't overorder! The pool is a bit disappointing and it's not the nicest to use when you're surrounded by business meetings at lunchtime. There's also quite a lot of building work going on which isn't exactly relaxing!

What a gem. We stayed here two nights prior to Safari and enjoyed ever minute of it. The breakfast was delicious, served buffet style in a lovely room and the property is a peaceful respite from the hustle of the big city. Don't miss haveing dinner in the gourmet restaurant - worth every cent you pay.
Our only regret was not going back there at the conclusion of our trip. We wanted to see downtown Nairobi and booked another hotel - a big mistake!
The proximity of the Fiarview to the airport is great - you miss all the congestion.
