“"I had a farm in Africa..."”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

For anyone who has read (or seen the film of) Out of Africa, this is the house Karen Blixen, her husband and lover (though not at the same time!) lived in, and from where she ran her coffee plantation. The farm has gone now, replaced by expensive housing, but the house and it's gardens remain, as does the view of the Ngong Hills. The museum is small, but well put together, combining as much of the original furnishings as could be recovered with items made for the film (which was shot here) - the tour guides also know their stuff, and were friendly and endlessly polite. The gardens are wonderful to wander around - a million moles from the noise and clamour of Nairobi - and overall, if you're a fan of the book or film, you'll love it. If you're not, there are plenty of other places to go in Nairobi!

“Out of Africa with Giraffes”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Side by side you can see the charming home of Karen Blixen as well as have a chance to nuzzle with the very gentle and beautiful Rothchild's giraffes - plus help support wildlife conservation efforts in Kenya

The Karen Blixen Museum is a lovely site outside of the city center in Nairobi. The house and grounds are gorgeous and beautifully maintained. The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable about Karen Blixen's life and time in Kenya, as well as about the history of coffee growing in the country. Visiting made me want to watch and read Out of Africa again. It is a special place. Don't miss lunch at the restaurant in the adjacent gardens. Delicious!

“Karen everywhere”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

In this part of Nairobi, the name Karen appears won billboards and signs everywhere. She was a prominent person in this part of the world. You get to visit the museum/home where she lived; this was also where the Oscar winning film was filmed. Very well kept grounds and exhibits. Must see the place when you are in Nairobi.

“Movie set”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

If you are interested in seeing a movie set of a movie done in the early 80's and which, since then, has never been maintained.. then this is your place!
Besides the surroundings, nice gardens and all, the paying to see the actual museum is a hand robbery.
