If you want to experience a traditional Kenyan meal, a Nyama Choma restaurant is where you want to eat, and Buffet Park is a good choice. To get there, ask your taxi driver and they will take you there.
You get to choose not just the type of meat that you want, but the actual carcass, and you can even tell them which part of the carcass you want them to prepare for you. If you wish, you can watch them cut up the carcass and cook your meat for you.
In addition to the roasted meat, they have Ugali, which is the traditional starch staple. It looks like mashed potatoes, but it is really just flour and water. It is VERY bland, unless you ask them to add some spices.
For alcohol, order a Tuskers beer, or a Reds. Reds looks like a beer, but it isn't. It is sort of like a winecooler, but it isn't. It is sort of apple flavoured. I think that it is only produced in Kenya. Those are probably the top two most common Kenyan beverages. If you have kids (or don't drink alcohol), my kids recommend the Blackcurrant flavour of Fanta brand soda.
PS-I would only recommend the goat if you have never had it before and are adventurous. I got tired of the Kenyan goat VERY fast!
