Ngong Hills is really beautiful and easy to access from Nairobi. The entry was 600 KES for tourists and 200 for nationals. We're told it is not safe to walk all seven hills alone as theft/mugging has increased on the route. We walked four on our own and had no issue as there were plenty of people around. You can pay for a ranger which is likely worth it with a group if you want to do all the hills. If you want a break from the city and some fresh air this is a great place to go.

The views over the rift valley from top of Ngong hills are spectacular and has always be great place to escape for a picnic at the weekend.

Recent trip after about a year was a surprise as the number of wind turbines has increased to around 20+ with construction still underway.

Trip advisor is probably not the place for debates on relative merits of renewable energy sources and it is a credit that this work is underway, the relative benefit of energy outweighing the desire to retain the natural beauty of the location.

The location, 45 minutes drive from Nairobi centre is a popular destination for teenagers, the number of discarded bottles amidst the other trash at the top attests to this popularity.

Although a managed location with entrance fees (few hundred shillings) the place does not feel that secure. The fact that it is presently a construction site gives less incentive....

That's it.

It was a nice experience climbing the hills. The windmills provided cool breeze as we ascended up with our team. While at the peaks you can sport the surrounding villages and a far view of Nairobi city. The most interesting thing is that you get siked up to hike from hill to hill due to the fulfillment of conquering them all.

From high up above you see the vastness of the country and the beauty of it. If you are keen you will even get a snick peak at Nairobi which looks so tiny, you'll have a hard time locating it.
The last I was here I remember wondering how my ancestors managed all the long walks they did while I was practically breathless from this. The place is one to behold, you can shout at the top of your voice and hear your echo shouting back at you.
great place to cast you troubles aside, make friends, capture the moments in your camera.......................................the list is endless
