A feel of home away from home, very private and warm reception. Fantastic food prepared by the friendly staff. Tucked away behind the sea front, you feel like you're part of the shela community, easy walk to the sand dunes and beach from the back

Lovely view from the balcony and lovely lounge to just seat, read a book or relax.

Definitely would recommend for those who would want more privacy than the commercialized sea front hotels.

The place is outstanding, we felt at home as we were the only 2 at the guest house. It is so relaxing just sitting at any of the terraces watching the sea.
The staff were great & warm, the food was delicious. At night it was so peaceful.
We enjoyed our stay & highly recommend & would love to return.

Stayed in Lamu Old town for 3 nights and then onto Shella Royal House. My friend and I had been disapointed with Subira house, although the owner was quiet charming. Moving further down to Shella was a delight. We were met off our dhow and walked about 5 minutes through the narrow lanes to our base for the next 3 nights.
The Somali Pirate problems have put a lot of people off Lamu and so we had the entire quest house to ourselves. The staff were attentive but discreet and could not do enough for us.
The Chef made the most amazing swahili food for us and compared to a very pricey meal at Peponi's it was fresh seafood prepared simply with great salads and fresh fruit. Do hope he pirates off the coast do not spoil this amazing Island just off the Kenya coast.

Room Tip: The higher you go the better the view but be prepared to climb quite a few steps!

Three of us stumbled upon this beautiful guesthouse house whilst looking for accommodation in Shella and couldn't believe our luck. The guesthouse is beautifully laid out and furnished, and is immaculately clean. There are also fantastic views and a much appreciated sea breeze. The food was amazing and the hotel manager and staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The price was a bargain too - extremely good value for money! We had a wonderfully relaxing two-night stay here and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place to anyone. BIG THUMBS UP!
