Just back from a wonderful week staying on Lamu island and had a delicious lunch at this hotel after watching the annual donkey races that morning. The food was fabulous - try the jumbo prawns - and the service charming and impeccable. You feel very safe here, everyone is taking the threat to security very seriously and is determined to protect and welcome tourists. It's a beautiful place and a beautiful hotel - do go!

just came back from a wonderful vacation to Lamu House with our 3 kids and 2 friends, everything was right what was written in the reviews about the hotel and marvelous beach house, and the very warm and gentle couple Frank and Marianne, but the most important thing we would like to add is that we all felt very very safe in Lamu, we went fishing at the Ocean no problem, we went sailing, snorkeling and did lots of other things. Despite what journalists write down their is no problem with safety, for the moment their are no tourists and this will be a much bigger problem because the residents depends on them, and when tourists stay away inhabitants have no incomes, so go to Lamu it's so beautiful and safe and it's just paradise

Room Tip: all rooms are very good and beautiful decorated, we preferred the sea site rooms

We stayed two nights in Lamu House on our last days of our honey moon and we can only say that we had a fabulous stay! Every part of the house is beautiful, the rooms, the pools, the "living room"...with lots of cared details. The restaurant is also very nice and comfortable, serving really good food. And last, but not least, Frank is a great host who will help and recomend you whatever you need.

we stayed end of october in Lamu at The Lamu House Hotel , we can only say what others told on this forum already ; beautiful hotel , great staff , hospitality in major letters . the food was better than very good , the dhow trips an experience we will never forget.
but most important at this time is that we felt perfectly safe , not one minute we felt insecure , the hotel has his measures that are good but not exposed , so you really feel or see nothing but you know it is safe. think the travel bans are very much overrated , taken in panic without really knowing the situation. we felt very ok , recommend Lamu town , and will come back very soon.

Room Tip: town side rooms are quiter during the mornings but you will prefer the stunning views of the sea sid...

The hotel is 5 minutes boat away from the Lamu airport. They send you a private taxi boat to pick you up. The hotel is decorated with taste and flair and respects the swahili style.
The highlight of the hotel is the free private beach club that is located on Manda island, few minutes away by boat rides offers by the hotel and which offers the opportunity to have a real beautiful beach experience. The beach includes a restaurant bar ideal for lunch and private sunbeds.
During our stay, we had the opportunity to benefit from great boat tours around the islands, visit Shela village ect.
The Belgian owners are really sweet and caring, they are present and warm, it is like travelling with friends.
If you look for a great stay with the comfort of a chic hotel outside the boring resort hotels, don't hesitate to go to visit Franck and Marianne!

Room Tip: Contact the hotel directly.

I didn't stay overnight, but had a tour of the hotel and would recommend it to anyone staying in Lamu. The food at the restaurant is excellent.
