“Simply fab”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

This is a fab place to stay. Of our entire trip to Kenya the Mara Leisure camp was the best. The tent was very clean and far beyond any expectation we had. Food was very good with a decent variety. The beds very comfortable, Completely insect and mosquito proof !
They are no telephones / TV sets / WiFi in the tents. However, they provide WiFi free of cost, round the clock at the lobby.
We would recommend this for anyone travelling to Masai Mara as it is located very close to places of interest where you can see all sorts of animals and also you can reach the Mara River .

Located outside the Masai Mara reserve my stay at the Leisure camp was good. The tents were an interesting idea and provided both clean and comfortable accommodation. There was a variety of food and the hotel provided picnics when we took a full day trip to the reserve. Being located outside the reserve does add on to the journey time (more of a problem if you do multiple trips in a day) and I would take that in to consideration when returning. Overall it was an enjoyable stay for 2 nights.

This is a fabulous place to stay. Lovely ambiance. Living one with nature. Serene. Clean and beautifully maintained property. The best part is the staff- Martin, Ann & Patrick - made us feel completely at home. Infact they go out of their way to make sure everything you need is provided for. We booked this camp through 'Kenia Tours' at a discounted price.
The tents are large and extremely spacious with an ample wooden decked balcony. Completely insect and mosquito proof ! It can get a bit chilly night though. They are no telephones / TV sets / WiFi in the tents....that was the simply awesome. However, they provide WiFi free of cost, round the clock at the lobby.

Will definitely stay at Mara camp should we visit Kenya again !
Thank you Martin, Ann & Patrick.

Room Tip: No ATM's nearby.

Excellent way to enjoy the safari. Our driver would pick up and drop off right at the front door to this luxury lodge. Wake up to the sound of Maasai putting herds of cows with bells out to pasture. Perfect wifi, comfortable tent style lodging, and gourmet meals.

Mara Camp is located immediately adjacent to an entrance to the Masai Mara Park in Kenya. It provides high quality and spacious tents (if you choose the Jumbo option). Food is mostly buffet but well prepared with excellent vegetable dishes and African spicing (similar to curries) on several dishes. Meat and fish was impressive quality considering that it had to come a long distance to a very remote location. Head cook Joyce is frequently seen making sure the food and service is kept to high standards. In the tent, we had some issues with plumbing as the shower only dribbled and the septic system occasionally had bad smells, but it is in the middle of Africa and you need to keep an open mind to inconveniences like this. The main building is very comfortable with inside and outside dining options overlooking lush forest. Morning and evening hundreds of Masai cattle, many with bells, cross the adjacent river crossing on the way to grazing or milking providing a unique sonic backdrop to the experience.

Room Tip: Jumbo tents are substantially larger than the regular and have wooded flooring.

Of our entire trip to Keny the Mara Leisure camp left the best impression. The tent was very clean and far beyond any expectation we had. Food (main courses) was very good, even though neither of us enjoyed the sweets. The positioning of the camp is unique and the monkeys running across tents were a unique experience for us. We would recommend this for anyone travelling to Masai Mara as it is located very close to places of interest where you can see all sorts of animals and also you can reach the Mara River in 20 minutes.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a tent not a room in the lodge.

I came here and did a Safari in August. It was the most amazing trip of my life getting to see the animals. You get to Mara Leisure Camp by driving on this bumpy road in the middle of nowhere, its dusty and long. You turn into what really looks like a large group of bushes and find this amazing little spot. They greeted us with wet towels and fresh juice. The accomodations are amazing, I stayed in a cottage/cabin and not a tent. But when you step into your room you do not feel like you are in the middle of no where. The room is so nice, the bathroom is amazing! Awesome tub. There was a lot of lizards in my room, the walls are a little thin but I had family next door so it was fine. The water takes a little while to warm up, and the power isn't on during the day but who really cares about that stuff when you are on safari. The food is served buffet style, there is a lot of choices. You have the same server the entire time you are there. At night you have flash lights and the staff walk you back to your room, for safety? I am not sure. The pool is nice, they have a nice gift shop. We saw these cute little monkies at the hotel. your safari driver picks you up and you right into the park in 10 minutes, they packed us box lunches so we could stay out all day one of the days we were there. We saw pretty much every animal I wanted to see, the drivers all work together to help you see the animals. Everything about this trip was perfect, and Mara Leisure Camp was awesome!
