“Beyond expectations!”
Reviewed 10 December 2011

Entumoto is very special - a place where they make you feel at home. I shouldn't have been surprised, as even the reservation agent was so helpful in planning the trip. From our first step into the mara, the Entumoto staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

Upon arrival, we had a short game drive - where we saw 4 out of the big 5! Isaac, our guide, is a great tracker and not only shows you the animals, but is able to answer any of your questions. By the end of the trip, we were really trying hard to find questions that he could not answer! We realized how lucky we were when we went on a game drive as part of our hot air balloon ride and also heard the other passengers' experiences. Isaac takes the extra time and care to make sure you are happy and understand your environment.

Even though it was the short rain season (November), we only had rain 1 day and it did not stop us from seeing any of the wildlife. We saw all of the big 5, lots of babies, a cheetah go for the kill with 2 cubs in tow and even 20 lions in a day!

At camp, the staff was ready with welcome drinks and eagerly awaited our arrival. There was 6 of us in a family tent and 1 regular tent. Tents should not be the word - the family tent had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room with fireplace and a porch with beautiful panoramic views. It really made our trip special that we were able to have a family tent- not many smaller camps have this option. Our tent was an uphill walk which made the views fabulous, but make sure to let them know if you prefer a closer tent.

We celebrated a 40th birthday and a wedding anniversary and the staff pulled out all the stops- from cake to dancing! We'll always cherish these memories and are so happy with our choice! Asante, Entumoto!

Room Tip: Some tents are uphill which have great view, but let them know if you prefer a closer tent.

our stay was beyond any expectation! the site is magnificent, in a secluded valley overlooking the mara plains and facing the sunset. All tents has a private and fantastic setting and the lounge and pool areas are just lovely.
Service was top level but still personal and discrete. You can feel that the whole staff took an interest in making your stay a memory for life. The guides are so knowledgeable about all aspects of nature and the masai culture and we were both doing walking safaris with masai askaris and tours in the park with very nice open landcruisers. We saw everything we ever dreamed of.
we highly recommend a stay with entumoto and we will surely come back many times.

This is a small, exclusive and very personal camp, right outside the park with a fantastic view. The camp staff are friendly and the guides very professional. We where a family group, with total of 14 people and had and three fantastic days there. Would have been great to spend a few more days, starting with a early morning tour to see a hunt and spend some time around the pool in the afternoon. Evenings where a bit cold, and so was the room, which is the reason it didn't get top grades. Otherwise the rooms where great, spaciuos and beautifully furnished!

Nice stay. Positives include
• Friendly staff
• Standard of guides and drives was very high – Isaac is brilliant!
• Facilities on offer are of a high standard

Negatives are all capable of being addressed; hopefully reviews after ours include these being resolved. They include:
• Haphazard invoicing
• Guest toiletries very basic
• Spartan furnishing – needs a bit more character still too new!
• Mediocre food, at times actually quite poor

The most disappointing was the food. Quality of ingredients was at times poor, chicken drumsticks at lunch, cheap sausages at breakfast and dry bread most times. Other meals demonstrated they were perfectly capable of good catering – with some very nice goat, but quality and standard was inconsistent.

We provided our feedback to Entumoto, but never heard anything back!

Room Tip: Try to get room nearer bottom of hill - otherwise may be a long walk!

Dear Alibobo

Thank you for taking the time and effort in reviewing our camp. It is much appreciated and since our camp is relatively new, it serves as a helpful guide to improve any aspect we may feel is less than perfect. Since your stay in May we have made many changes, including a new management team in charge of reservations and invoicing, which is now running smoothly and efficiently. We have also introduced a new chef to our restaurant who has been coming up with some amazing new dishes and incorporates the freshest vegetables from our very own, well-maintained and beautiful vegetable garden.

As for the tents, they are rather far apart to allow for the utmost privacy between guests, but under the new reservations system we try to learn as much from the guest as possible before arrival in order that we may learn if the guest will battle to walk to the further tents. Our game driver also now offers to drive guests to the furthest tents if they wish.

I hope that we may see you back at Entumoto in the near future and impress you with all that we now have to offer since your last visit. Keep well!

Our tent was incredibly appointed and luxurious. The staff was attentive, service personal while respecting our privacy. The food was by far the best we had in Africa - the chef used ingredients from their organic garden...I recommend Entumoto highly to anyone traveling in that area of the Mara. Would definitely return.

Our stay at Entumoto was incredible, from arrival till departure we were treated like royalty. The staff were friendly and our ranger, Isaac, was the most knowledgeable person I had ever met when it comes to the bush. The accommodation was out of this world, absolute luxury. I wish we could've stayed forever!

Entumoto is an amazing little hotel, the service was unbelievably accommodating for your every need (right down to a hotel water bottle in your bed at night) The room was lovely and well equipped, what makes the resort so magical is the lack of fences. One of the best features of this place is the Game driver who knows every last detail of the wildlife. A truly spectacular place and I would recommend it yo any traveler wanting to experience the Masai Mara hands on in true luxury, and the cherry on top was the food which comes from the veggie garden they keep!

Room Tip: All the rooms are spaced quite far apart for privacy - the family suite is amazing
