“Perfect Safari”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2014

Both super-mellow and highly charged, our three days at Naboisho Camp was everything we hoped for. Just a handful of safari tents nestled beneath acacias, zebras cropping the grass a stone's throw away, lions roaring in camp at night, awesome walking with Roelof, Helen - the perfect host. We couldn't have had a better time. Daniel - our guide - was incredibly knowledgeable and very discreet. Brilliant.

This was our first safari and we booked all our travel through Troy at True Africa, extremely professional, friendly and with an abundance of knowledge to help guide us in making the right choice and Naboisho - well what a choice!!

From the moment we landed at the small airstrip at Ol Seki the abundance of wildlife was truly amazing.

We were met by Wilson and Denis who were genuine, warm, enthusiastic with a great sense of humour Not to mention the most fantastic guides,we saw almost everything (the black rhino escaped us!) and went on a wonderful journey together, breakfast and lunch in the bush, sundowners and night drives.

The camp was everything and more,8 luxurious tents well spaced to make you feel very private, the bucket showers(which you can enjoy inside or out) were great and whilst sitting on the verandah of your tent you could sit back relax and watch the wildlife in your front garden!! Giraffe,Zebra and Giselle all stroll past and at night we could hear the lions- wow.

Roleof and Helen (your hosts) were such warm people, passionate about the conservancy and wildlife and made you feel so welcome in this special place.

Moses and all the staff were exceptional nothing was too much trouble, the food lovely and so much of it!

We did go into the Mara reserve but to be honest we much preferred the conservancy where the animals were far more abundant, although it was considered low season there were still 6-8 jeeps chasing the limited animals found there so I can only imagine what it must be like at high season,on all our drives at Naiboisho we only saw 2 jeeps we literally had the animals to ourselves. The other great advantage is that we could do night drives which you are not allowed to do in the reserve and whilst we could go there nobody could come into the conservancy unless you were staying there so you have the best of both worlds.

We also did a ballon ride,it's not cheap at $500 each but a wonderful experience, the only downside was the launch site was changed so it took nearly 2 hours and you had to leave at 4am but that was soon forgotten when we were floating above the wildlife and watching the sunrise. On landing you were picked up and had a champagne breakfast it was unforgettable, and very professionally done.( I believe the company was called Balloon Safaris)

Roleof and Helen also sponsor a local village which you have the opportunity to visit , it is a very humbling experience and the Masai people warm and genuinely pleased to welcome and share their home with you,a great memory.

If you need to have a swimming pool, television and Wi-Fi then Naboisho is not the place for you but if you want to feel at one with nature in beautiful surroundings and with wonderful people please go and have a truly amazing stay,we would go back in a heartbeat, thank you.

Room Tip: All tents are great

The camp was excellent ,you will not be sorry you stayed there , you could spent 5 nights there and it wouldn't be enough. Helen and Roelof were great , the lodge, the tents ,the staff ,the bust breakfest , the sun downers, the food , i can not say enough about the food , i ate till i was stuffed every meal, if your looking for a kenya safari this is the camp ,if i had to rate the camp from 1 to 10 i would give it a 12 , GREAT CAMP

My parents decided to come visit me (I live in Nairobi) from the states and we knew we wanted to go to the Mara. We read reviews online and saw that Naboisho had excellent reviews, and I had also heard that the conservancy was better than the Mara itself.

All I can say is WOW!! The camp is better than I ever could have imagined. The site and tents are stunning. We often ate breakfast overlooking a group of zebras! The tents themselves do not feel like tents at all, but a luxurious five star hotel. The staff kindly offered to let me stay in my own tent for free, since there were not full. So I had a king sized bed and tent all to myself! The staff couldn't be more welcoming or accommodating. Everyone from the servers, guides, askaris, and managers knew our names and were wonderful hosts. The staff even surprised me with a birthday cake even though my birthday had been the week before. It was incredibly sweet.

The Naboisho Conservancy is stunning - we saw many more animals in the Conservancy than we did in the actual reserve. Our guides, Wilson and Dennis, were absolute pros and found us some incredible sites!! It was a perfect safari. We saw all sorts of animals and the Conservancy is much less crowded with safari cars than the Mara is.

We also decided to do the visit to the Maasai village. I had been on similar village visits in other African countries and was not super thrilled with the idea, as many of the other experiences had felt very uncomfortable or exploitative. This experience was nothing like that. We went to the home of one Maasai family and got to sit with them and chat. It was very genuine and a wonderful experience - one I would highly recommend.

I cannot recommend Naboisho Camp highly enough. It was a dream vacation and I still cannot believe how wonderful it all was!

Thank you again to the wonderful staff for a trip that my parents and I will never forget :)

I hope that we will someday return to this place. It was by far the best experience of all in our excellent 3 week vacation in Africa. It is intimate, surrounded by the wild land and animals, and designed with sophisticated understatement that feels right for the place. The people working there are genuinely warm and caring. Our Maasai guide, Dickson, is a treasure. Driving through the Conservancy with him was great fun, we found many animals and few other tourists. Perfect!

Our group of six family members just returned from a fantastic safari in Tanzania and Kenya. We all agreed that our favorite lodging was Naboisho Camp. Our hosts, Helen and Roelof, and their entire staff couldn't have been more gracious and attentive. The facilities were extremely comfortable, beautifully designed and decorated, and by far had the best food! We'll never forget sitting on our tent veranda watching the giraffes, elephants, and zebras wander by or showering in our outdoor bush shower or game drives through the conservancy and Masaai Mara. Being the only visitors at the time made us feel like royalty!

Room Tip: All tents seemed to have the same great views but some are considerably farther from the lodge in ca...

Naboisho Camp felt like I was on the set of "Out of Africa". This was our 3rd trip to Africa, first to Kenya and Tanzania, and we were not disappointed. There were more animals here than at any other camp we stayed at in terms of shear numbers. Our guide, Wilson, was fantastic and he made our visit all the more special with his local knowledge and awareness of the animals. Roelof, Helen and Moses were amazing hosts and made sure that all of our needs were met, including organising a 'special' lunch for us. The camp itself is stunning. The tents were beautiful, the outdoor shower option was wonderful and listening to the animals as well as watching them through the flaps of your tent during the night was incredible. Roelof took us on a 'fly camping' expedition (walking safari) overnight and this will remain one of the highlights of our trip and gave us memories that will last a lifetime. Being surprised by a herd of 67 elephants, while on foot, tends to stay with you. The beauty of Naboisho is that you are also able to have night drives with a spotlight to be better able to spot the nocturnal animals. Without a doubt, one of the best camps we have ever visited. Thank you to all the team at Naboisho, your generosity of spirit will always stay with us.
