My husband and I visited Mahali Mzuri as the second stop on a two week trip to Kenya and were blown away by the level of service at Mahali Mzuri. We had Jackson for a driver and Johnstone for a server and both were incredibly knowledgable, friendly and went above-and-beyond. We wanted to take them home with us, because they became like family! Jackson is particularly amazing with his drives - it seems like all the other guides just followed him or asked him on the radio where we were. He is close to get his gold-level as a guide and it shows. We had tent 1 and loved that it was further away from the center of the camp, so we could see and hear more of the animals at night. The view of the stars from Mahali Mzuri is reason enough to book, but everything else (incredible chef, top notch game drives and bush dinner) seals the deal. It is worth the price!

Room tip: If you aren't happy with something, just speak up! They will change it or do what they can to make you have the best stay ever :)

Mahali Mzuri is elevated with tremendous views of the wildlife in eco-friendly tents. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and remembers your meal preferences. The chef is talented and prepares dishes that are pleasing to the eye and your belly! Maasai Mara is the place to see the cats! Jackson is an incredible guide along with the other wonderful guides of Mahali Mzuri. Pro Tip- make sure you request your guide in advance of your stay. Johnstone was a great server and does a fantastic job blending modern day references when explaining Maasai culture. There are so many fantastic experiences and details that Mahali Mzuri provides on your safari experience. An added bonus is getting to meet so many fantastic people at dinner or in the bar. Feel free to relax by the pool, at your room, enjoy a massage, and let Mahali Mzuri do the rest! What a great safari experience that will remain in our hearts for a lifetime and can't wait to return again in the hopeful near future.

Room tip: All tents are luxurious. You can stay close to the center of the amenities or a bit further for a more intimate experience with nature.

This was my first safari so was a little apprehensive as to what to expect especially as travelling alone. Spent 4 nights in tent no. 8. OMG the tents at Mahali Mzuri were luxurious and fabulous a real whow factor!. They had everything you could wish for and there is no need to walk with any toiletries, suncream or mosquitos sprays and even binoculars if you don't have your own. This is all taken care of and the rooms were very spacious plus there was a balcony where you could relax on the lounges and enjoy the scenic view with animals grazing in front of you. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you. The game drives were wonderful and amazing and every time we went out saw a kill which was so unreal and does not normally happen so often. I was so lucky with my guide Dickson.. The animals were so close to the jeep you could nearly touch them as they sometimes came up to the jeep ..unbelievable!! Saw prides of lions just relaxing and taking a siesta. They totally ignored us and the jeep it was like we did not exist as far as they were concerned. On a couple of the nights you could hear lions roaring. We were told it was the two brothers demonstrating their dominance to the other lions in the area. It sounded like it was right nearby my tent...omg. A special thank you to Dickson my guide he just knew where to be at the right time for the action. I would also like to say thank you to Bob my waiter who looked after me and nothing was too much for him to do and he remembered your likes and dislikes. Also David. I also found Wilson the General Manager and Marianna very friendly, professional and was always present each day and made a point of interacting with the guests. I did not use the spa but found Vera and Purity very friendly and helpful. What can I say I would definitely recommend Mahali Mzuri to anyone they will not be disappointed. The drives were off road which made it all the more exciting and the speed of the lions, cheetahs and leopards unbelievable when they were hunting for food. We saw their cubs who looked so playful while mum hunted. We also saw some newly born baby lion cubs ...so cute...amazing. On one occasion out with Dickson two male elephants were fighting and then one of them decided to charge towards our vehicle omg!! although scary it was exciting too but Dickson was in control of the situation and kept us safe. Another occasion on our way back from an evening drive we came across the two dominant lion brothers who were roaring the previous nights...another scary but exhilarating experience and again Dickson was in control of the situation and to the rescue. This was an amazing and unbelievable experience and would definitely revisit and recommend Mahali Mzuri. Also the group of people at the camp were very friendly and mingled together. A big thank you to all the staff who were very helpful too and the security guards who escorted you with a torch every evening and early morning game drives from your tent. Time ran out so there was no time to visit the village but saw all the animals that was on my list and more.

Dear martinUK2018,

Wow, it’s difficult to know where to start with such an amazing review so let us begin with a big thank you! We were so touched to read your feedback and hear how much you enjoyed your first safari experience. It certainly sounds like you made some lifelong memories on your Game Drives, but it was your feedback about the team that really touched our hearts. Maybe I am biased but I think Dickson, Bob and David are all very special members of the Mahali Mzuri family and it’s always a pleasure to hear when our guests agree. Mariana and I both also wanted to say thank you for our personal mentions, we loved meeting you during your stay. We very much hope that we might have the opportunity to welcome you back to Mahali Mzuri one day soon, because we miss you already.

We stayed four nights at this tented camp. I say “ tented “ as the tents have a very modern architectural slant to what you would expect from a tent. We stayed in Tent 6, one of two closest to the main tented area. Mahali Mzuri is one of only five in the Olare Motorgi Conservancy north of the famous Maasai Mara. Safariing can be done in an adjoining conservancy, as well meaning there is a huge area to explore and see wildlife. The Motorgi Conservancy is one of many private game viewing areas unlike the Maasai Mara which is a National Park. This difference is significant. In the Maasai Mara, your guided vehicle must not drive off the designated roads. You certainly see a lot of game, but at times at a distance, unlike the Olare Motorgi Conservancy, where the guided vehicles can go off road and up and personal with the game. We experienced cheetah cubs playing under and around our vehicle whilst Mum sat nearby surveying the gazelles or impalas in the distance and lions strolling up to and lying against the vehicle to take advantage of the shade. These are predatory animals in the wild but so nonchalant about our presence. What a sensational thrill! Although unsavoury to some, we saw mum cheetah slowly stalk, then trot then accelerate at speeds up to 120kmsph and bring down a gazelle or impala and watch as her cubs arrive quickly to devour the unfortunate animal. On another occasion we saw four lionesses hunt down our favourite little warthogs. Sad as that was, this is nature in its raw state. We interrupted two young bulephant bulls fighting, only to have one charge us twice - frighteningly exhilarating! All this and more but it was only possible through the professionalism and skill of our driver guide Dickson. Dressed in traditional Maasai warrior clothes he took us on early morning and late afternoon drives and his knowledge, humour and condideration for his guests brought sheer delight and was so greatly appreciated. Back at camp, the wonderfully natured and helpful staff totally enhanced our stay. Special mention must be made of Bob, who was our waiter, come organiser and generally great bloke. He spoiled us rotten with his attention. Setting up private romantic dinners and ensuring we tasted all wines to achieve our desired choice. But in all good organisations, the attitude must flow from the top and in this case Wilson, CEO and Maryanne, Camp Manager with their warmth and understanding made us feel right at home. Mahali Mzuri was our thirteenth Safari Camp and for us “13” was full of luck and good fortune and number 1.
Sir Richard Branson you should very proud and pleased that you have created this African gem. Thank you to all!

Room tip: We were initially in Tent 3, but moved as it was in a dip, very hot and poor internet connection.

Dear Michael H,

Wow, it’s not every day that we welcome such seasoned safari-goers to Mahali Mzuri but I have to say we were delighted to hear that safari number 13 was full of luck and good fortune! It certainly sounds as though you made memories to last a lifetime on your game drives and we were only too pleased to play a part in them. Dickson was touched to read your review and hear your kind words, and Marianne and I also wanted to say thank you for your compliments. Bob loved spoiling you during your stay and keeping your wine glasses topped up, and on a personal note I have to agree that he is an all-round ‘great bloke’! We really hope that we might see you again soon, perhaps for safari number 14?

Just recently returned from our Safari and Mahali Mzuri was our last stop on our Safari. And I’m glad it was our last stop. Being a tent camp it was a luxury tent camp very warm and inviting. Large bed with hot water bottles in your bed when you come back from dinner. A nice size bathroom with a shower and claw tube. A stocked mini frig. Amazing views from your own deck you can watch the animals come and go.
The staff are very friendly and made you feel welcome. My husband has a lactose allergy so the chef made sure there was always food he could eat. And would come out and talk to him about the menu and what he could make for him.
Our Safari guides James, Gladys, and Betty were awesome. Before each drive James would ask us what we wanted to see and we would go out and find it.
One afternoon I had a massage and Vera has amazing fingers my massage was so relaxing thank you Vera.
What was nice about this place everyone new your name and no matter where you were at they used your name to talk with you.
Our room was at the far right tent 2 when looking out over the valley. And at night we heard hyenas one night outside our bathroom and another night lions outside out tent roaring at the hyenas that this was his territory and to leave. We where very safe because Maasi where stationed outside your tent to make sure you where okay. They would escort you to and from your tent in the morning and back after dinner. No one is allowed out of there tent after you were escorted to your tent. If you needed anything you just waved your flashlight and they where there to take care of your needs.
I would definitely come back in a heartbeat! This place was everything I was expecting!
Thank You!
