Stayed there for a week . I would stay more if it would be possible . The staff was very friendly ,the rooms were realy nice and comfortable. The location was great . I loved everything about it. The food was okay ,they could have more options though. The eco camp was wonderful . I will always remember this trip.

Two nights at Masai Mara, 3 at Eagle View. Everything flawless. Perfect weather, lots of wildlife, lots of friendly people, outstanding service. Hot water bottle in the bed scared the heck out of me the first night but, oh, how nice!

Stayed for 2 nights at Basecamp at the end of the dry season in late Feb. The staff ensured that I had a fantastic time, enjoying some great safaris, visiting local sites and eating plenty of food.

The accommodation is made up of 5 star permanent tents, which are a creative mix of canvas and permanent structure. All the tents line the river, over which is the national park. The shower and toilet area are fairly open, although private. They have plenty of room, and are spread out enough so the only noise you would normally here is the wildlife.

The camp was built a while ago now, so while clean and in top notch state, it does show a bit of age. Basecamp employ local staff and are progressive in a number of ways. They support the local school - which is well worth a visit.

I flew in to the nearby air-strip from Nairobi - the journey from there was a highlight in itself with plenty of wildlife.

A few key things:
- Wifi in the reception public areas is good, and you can also recharge your various batteries there. No plugs or wifi in the private tents.
- Composting toilet is not that different from a regular loo, and is cleaned daily
- Lots of security - including to walk around after dark due to the wildlife
- Bed is huge, plus a great private deck to watch the world go by
- Food is good quality and quantity, but fairly western and not adventurous. Sitting by the fire-pit and watching the stars is great.
- Derek is a fantastic guide - but the others are also top notch
- Ask to visit the local school - well worth a visit
- The safari vans carry about 6, and are a bit smaller and older than from some of the other camps (which can be a bit over the top), but are also a big step up from mini vans etc.

The camp is part of a community that protects and manages additional wilderness areas to the national park - giving you access to areas that are a lot quieter than the main Masai Mara Park.

Ensure that all fees and changes are included in any quote, including credit card fees if paying on site. I suggest you ALWAYS pay in local currency - exchange rates are terrible.

Room Tip: Then Senator Obama and his family stayed at Basecamp - so ask for their tent if you want to sleep li...

My Dad and I enjoyed three nights at Basecamp Eagle View. Walking into the camp takes your breath away when you realize you overlook the Mara. It's nestled in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. The views, staff, food, wildlife, rooms were all five star--pretty spectacular place. Was impressed by everything and I hope to go back to experience all three camps in one stay. Visited the Basecamp in Talek for the day and it was fabulous as well. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Love and if you have the opportunity you should visit !

Spent four wonderful days on safari. One night at Basecamp Explorer and two nights at Eagle View. This was an all around incredible experience. The accommodations make you feel a part of nature while catering to your personal needs. It was great to go to sleep listening to all the animals at night in a bed you would find in a luxury hotel. Both locations have fabulous views. At Eagle View your accommodation has a breath taking view of the reserve. The main lodge has a large viewing area where you can spend hours watching animals while relaxing and dining. The food is exceptional. The staff prepare delicious meals and present them with flare. The staff at both locations provide the highest level of service. From the moment you arrive at camp they are there to meet your needs. Our guide, Steve, spent four days with us. Every game drive was an adventure. He knew exactly where to go to show us all the animals. It was amazing how he could drive and still see the smallest animal in the distance to show us. We learned so much about the "Circle of Life". Steve was knowledgeable about the animals, insects, plants and weather. He shared his knowledge in a fun and engaging manner. This trip was a blessing not only because of the animals we saw but because of the people with Basecamp. Highly recommend for families and couples!

What an experience! A total concept bundling Basecamp Masai Mara, Dorobo and Eagle View made this the perfect inline safari tour for us all. Thanks a million to Ton Kay, Dorobo and all the professional staff who made this an unforgettable visit to masai- country!

The eco camp of Basecamp is a very special experience. Amazing settings with tents overlooking a crocodile-river with the game reserve but meters away from the tent's terrace allows for viewing animals coming down to drink with a cocktail in your hand. One night we even saw an elephant just across!

The camp is run by local Masai who are extremely friendly and helpful. The work they do for the local community, in terms of employing women for beadwork and supporting schools and other projects, gives the feel-good factor to a night's price which could feed a minor village. In addition, they do everything eco which is nice. My girlfriend did not approve of the outdoor eco-toilet's quite strong smell though, this they promised was being replaced.

The local masai guides they have are also great for game drives. We booked with travel agency Basecamp Explorers (who runs the place) who sent a guy they claimed was a Silver guide with us, but really didn't know anything (beware using that company for guides), but the local guides complemented with excellent knowledge and guiding ability.

The only improvement suggestion we have is to improve the food a bit. It's nice home-cooked meals, but not up to par with other lodges of same price.
