“An out of this world experience!”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

by far the best trip of my life! The whole experience of the safar at the Maasai Mara was magical, maybe it was down to luck that we got to see almost everything (only thing missing was to a see a live kill). The staff are incredible, very friendly and very educated about the animals and the history of everything around us. The camp site itself is great. You stay in 5 star tents, with toilets and shower, very comfortable bed and sitting area as well. At night you feel the animals around you, very exciting feeling. The food at the camp is also very delicious, always fresh ad very tasty. For sure worth a visit with friends and loved ones, not sure if its perfect for young kids. I loved it!

Room Tip: If its your first safari experience, ask for a tent that is really close to the actual camp site rec...

A wonderful camp, the best. The whole feel is amazing. The staff are the tops and will make you feel at home. The tents give a real safari feel and yet have all the comforts you would need. The bucket showerscarevwonderful, so good my wife is now insisting I climb on the roof at home with two buckets of hot water.
Sammy is not only the best guide but a film star....just ask him!
Food great and even Will the intern was outstanding.
Wonerful management
Oh and if you do get a knock on the tent door to take you to diner and it is a 6 foot 4 massi with a spear and a lion head , don't worry it's only John and I gave him the lion costume and he is very safe!

We recently stayed for 3 nights at Rekero at the beginning of our holiday, amazing place, fantastic food, great safari thanks Sam, we saw everything we wanted to and more! The beds are so comfy nice touch to include a hot water bottle.

There was an amazing atmosphere at the camp the staff were very friendly, I'm sure this was in no small way down to Conway & Clea, great place looking forward to planning our next trip to Rekero

Rekero was our last camp/lodge on a 12 day Safari - a perfect way to end the trip. The location is truly special with each tent having it's own river view, and of course George the Hippo providing nightly entertainment, as he defended his pool. The entire camp team at Rekero is wondeful, Cleo, Marianne, Edwin, Simba - I wish I could remember everyone's names. Daniel and Riza our guides were so much fun and could they find the animals - this is big cat country and we saw them all multiple times, including a pair of lion cubs that stole your heart. You'll need extra memory cards for your camera at Rekero.

We just returned from our second visit to Rekero and it was every bit as wonderful an experience as it was two years ago. The tents have been nicely improved with an indoor seating area in front of the bedroom, so it was much roomier.....the staff was as nice and pleasant as ever, and our two guides, Sammy and Daniel, were both great........it was somewhat different this year in terms of the wildlife viewing, and that can be attributed to the recent rains.......this time we saw some amazing wildebeest and zebra crossings at several points along the Mara River. Awesome! We thought we were in the middle of a National Geographic Special. We saw all of the big 5 although the rhino was a bit of a challenge to locate and we only had one leopard sighting.......otherwise, we were treated to several lion prides, cheetahs, and all the other usual suspects one sees in the Mara. In other words, wildlife was plentiful. George, the neighborhood rhino, paid us visits every night, and we even saw him in daylight hanging out at the watering hole not far from our tent, #5. All in all, we can't rave enough about Rekero; it will always be very special to us.......highly recommended if you want a wonderful and scenic location, delicious food, comfy accommodations, knowledgeable guides, and a classic tent safari experience.

Room Tip: This time we stayed in tent #5 and it's closer to the river than #1 where we were located on our...

We stayed here for 3 days and got to see so many animals. We had day drives, night drives, and went on a Balloon Safari over the Mara River. We saw the Big 5 all in one day, including the Black Rhino which was a treat to see! We saw a Cheetah Kill, and the Wildebeest Migration over the river. We saw the Leopard on our last day there! The food was amazing, and accomodations and tents were better than a 5 star hotel. The Staff was very attentative to our needs and we did not do without at all! Definitely recommend this camp! The guides were very knowledgeable also!

Room Tip: Pick a tent closer to the Mess Hall, the Hippos are loud at night in tent 8-9 lol

We had visited a different part of the Masai Mara in 2005. The Masai Mara occupies a huge area and Rekero is located in the most strategic location for viewing and experiencing the amazing yearly migration and the predators that are attracted to it.
Rekero Camp is very nicely sited on the banks of a tributary of the Mara river and you get fantastic sightings of animals crossing the river and of the resident hippos.
Marianne is a lovely and very helpful hostess and she made our family group feel very welcome. Our guides Pius and Onesmus were outstanding. We always got a very early start, avoiding most of the time the crowds that can mass around a particular sighting.
Early morning is also the time when animals are most active.
At Rekero we liked both the food and the tents.
Pius and Onesmus made it possible for us to see an astonishing number of leopards, cheetahs and lions. Not to speak of the gigantic herds of wildebeest, zebras and many different antelopes.
To see a leopard leisurely walking along the rocks of a river is not a common experience anywhere in Africa.
