“Excellent Experience”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

Incredible place for the Safari Experience! Governor's is great. The service is excellent and personal. Breakfast, lunch and dinner with views to the Mara are amazing. Our driver at the gamedrives was great and the perfect at spotting the animals. They have wifi at a public area and the shop has great selected things. The tents are very good, with everything you need and more. They took us coffee early morning to the tents before going to an early gamedrive. One night at dinner we got to see a family of elephants passing through the camp. You can hear the hippos at night. Amazing!

We were lucky enough to stay at the Governors Camp at the end of March/start of April for four fantastic nights. Everything was just so simply perfect and the team at the camp were all so friendly, genuine and had a true love for the animals.

The flight in to the Mara was the beginning of our adventure in our little plane, where we were then met by our driver for our stay 'Dixon', who was the best.

Our tents looked out onto the Mara and we were looked after by Peter, who woke us every morning with a hot drink and biscuit and at night put a hot water bottle in our beds - what a treat! The tents have a great way of heating the water for the showers, which were always beautifully hot.

The food was of a really high quality, always freshly cooked and served with a smile. Do give the afternoon soup a try - must admit we thought soup on a hot afternoon, but it was delicious.

Our safari drives we just out of this world, thanks to 'Dixon' and we were fortunate to see all of the big five and then be able to spend some time looking at the other animals around them. You must do breakfast in the bush, it is a real treat and the camp send a delicious selection of breakfast goodies.

Michael on the gate made us smile every time we went out or into the camp - he was lovely.

We did the Hot Air Balloon as a birthday surprise and it was amazing, out of this world, breath taking etc.. so gentle and quiet. We even got a glimpse of a Rhino. Then posh breakfast in the Mara, with pancakes cooked on an old set of Balloon burners.

The manager 'Peter' really took care of us all and always had time for a chat or a little sing song!!

We had the most fantastic time here and would go back tomorrow if we could.

Room Tip: All the tents were fantastic. We stayed in ones over looking the Mara where others over look the ri...

We stayed for 3 nights at Governor's Camp and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The luxury tents are clean and have everything you could ask for. The hot water bottle's at night were great for me (husband wasn't too happy about them). The food was delicious and different every day.
We had a hippo trying to get into our tent at night but we never felt in danger as the staff are attentive and helpful. We got to see lots of wildlife and even a few week old lion cub - the driver said it was the smallest one he had ever seen in over 20 years.
We would definitely recommend Governor's Camp to any travellers.

We have been in many camps having lived in Africa for 15 years and you cannot fault the safari experience in Governors camp.Though the interior a little behind in style. However, what I appreciated the most was the camps enormous involvment in the communities around. I was overwhelmed with the direct investments in infrastructure & schools in the village nearby and the amount of children in Masai land Gorvernors has helped get an education. Go check it out, so facinating

Having done 3 safaris previously, this was without doubt the best. To visit the Masai Mara, and stay at Governors Camp really was a dream come true. We visited as a family of 5 and were all overwhelmed by the experience. After an early start from Mombasa we were welcomed with clean up towels, a drink and an overview of the camp before being shown to our river facing tents (24 & 25). Before we even got to our tents we were greeted with the sight of a hippo and crocodile on the river bank - what a wonderful setting! The tents were clean and spacious with good bathroom facilities. After lunch we went on our first game drive with our brilliant guide, Hassan and were not disappointed. During the 4 days we were there we saw so many wonderful animals and were able to get so close. Seeing them in their natural habitat was amazing, particularly Scarface and the Marsh Pride featured on BBCs Big Cat Diaries. We were not fortunate enough to see a rhino, although this was certainly not through lack of trying on Hassan's part. I would recommend taking a picnic breakfast to save coming back to camp and interrupting the drive, as eating breakfast while watching the hippos in the river just adds to the experience - as do the 'al fresco' toilet facilities! Back at camp, all the staff we so friendly and helpful, and the manager Peter was always on hand for a chat. The food was always enjoyable, made even more so by the setting. A nice touch was being brought tea, coffee and biscuits to the tent at 6am prior to our first game drive of the day. A further bonus was having the laundry basket emptied each morning and clean clothes back on the bed by the evening! Our stay also coincided with my birthday, and a fantastic day's safari was finished off with a lovely meal by the fire accompanied by a bottle of champagne, as the hippo's wandered by. The evening ended with a few chorus's of a Swahili 'happy birthday' song and dance by the staff and a birthday cake. All in all, a truly memorable experience which will be hard to beat. I would have no hesitation in recommending anybody wishing to visit the Masai Mara to stay at Governors Camp

I stayed this Governor's Camp with my mom for 2 nights last week.
My mom visited me here, Kenya, from South Korea.
It was just so good.
All staffs were very nice and kind including driver.
Our driver is so professional ! we could see all the Big 5 !!
The food was so good, especially, I loved beef steak. I've never tried this good fillet even in Nairobi.
The tent was so cozy and good.
during daytime little mongoose came into our tent~ so we need to be helped by Masaai security guy :)
All the experiences here were so memorable :)
Thank you!!!

We had an excellent time at Governor's camp Masai Mara....our tents were right infront of the river Mara. We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days. The food, the hospitality and all the staff there took very good care of us....the free laundry was of great help. Overall a wonderful place and would love to go back again. I hightly recommend Governor's Camp to all the readers.

Room Tip: Our tents were way inside, so we felt a little scared though we had guards with us all the time...so...
