“Amazing Place”
Reviewed 12 June 2012

Myself, my wife and 10 year old son stayed at Duma Camp for 3 nights in February and had a wonderful time.

The size of the camp (only 6 tents) makes it an incredibly personal experience and the enthusiasm of the owner Jennifer ensures that it is an experience not to be forgotten.

The all-Mara staff team were really friendly, enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable.

The camp itself is situated in the Lemek Conservancy and the wildlife viewing was spectacular. We saw just about everything we could have hoped to be in the most beautiful of settings, and often right on our doorstep!

The food was of a high standard and being able to sit out in the Mara with Jennifer and enjoy our meals was a great experience.

Overall, this was exactly the kind of experience that a trip to Kenya should be about and we all absolutely loved it.

Overall, a unique and remarkable place which character

Having been many times to Duma Camp, I highly recommend this simple, and comfortable camp in Lemek Conservancy. The service is excellent, the food very nice, the tents most comfortable. What makes this camp quite unique is the fact that there are only six tents and therefore you almost choose your activities 'a la carte', go on morning and evening game drives, do a whole day, go for walks etc. There is an amazing variety of wildlife and on most of the game drives there are almost no other cars around. Adding to all this the beautiful view of the plains in front of the camp with animals wandering around!!!

We have just spent four days with Jennifer at Duma Camp, and it was quite an experience. We were a party of six - two adults with boys aged 10 and 7, a sister-in-law and a Granny (aged 80!). The staff were brilliant, nothing too much trouble (including, bows and arrows, and spear-making etc with our sons in between drives), and our boys loved Jennifer. She has huge energy and a great sense of humour, and loves a good story. Evening meals were always very entertaining! We were very privelaged to have seen every animal on our list except leopards, some VERY close up, although we heard at least one leopard very near the camp at night. The tents were very well thought-out, clean and comfortable - we all slept extremely well! Some of the highlights included a huge pod of hippos, enormous herd (c50) of elephants, a beautiful pair of cheetahs, a family of lions with a fresh kill, and a couple of two month old lion cubs, but every drive was different, each one with its own excitments. We would certainly go back, and highly recommend it to others. Thank you Jennifer, and to all your boys - it was a fantastic family holiday (for three generations)!

Four of us have just spent 3 nights at Duma Camp in the Lemek Conservancy in the Masai Mara eco system. What an experience! We South Africans (who are quite used to the safari experience) were overawed by the personal attention (the whole camp to ourselves, Jennifer picked us up and entertained us with her stories, the staff could not have been more helpful, the food was excellent.

The simplicity of it all just made our stay and fitted in to the environment so well.

The environment! The variety and abundance of game, birds and flora just could not have been more beautiful. To cap it all we witnessed a lion kill, saw a Cheetah and a Leopard!

Room Tip: Tent #6 is closest to the bush!

Nestling away in the North Conservancy to the NW of the Masai Mara is the delightful little camp. Duma Camp is one of the last original bush camps still available in Kenya. Forget your Lodges with inedible food on the buffet and go for comfort, style and delicious home cooked meals served at your table. Nothing is too much trouble for the owner, Jennifer, and her staff of Masai warriors. The tents are all clean with the most comfortable beds you can find away from home with en suite showers and loos. Your game drive is YOUR game drive. You aren't squeezed into a vehicle with strangers. The whole experience is about you and it certainly was. A fabulous place with fabulous people. Thank you all for making my first trip to the Mara a real experience!

We recently returned from our second trip to Kenya and Duma Camp, we can't wait for the third.
The camp is owned by Jennifer and together with her staff nothing is too much trouble.
The camp consists of 5 tents (one is Jennifers) they all have a toilet and shower, so although you are camping you are not 'roughing' it.
From the minute you are picked up from the airstrip to the minute you are taken back there, you are looked after, from the game drives, to the meals, to the nature walks, to the information, to the campfire chats, to the Maasai Warriors.
Don't bother with the 'safari lodges' if you are wanting to see the Mara as it should be seen go to Duma camp.
If you are thinking of going on Safari, stop thinking and just book it at Duma camp.
