“Excellent Everything”

This is the finest tent accommodation you will find. Excellent food, lodging, set-up, view...it doesn't stop delivering. They had a Masai group come in to show us how to make a fire using sticks one night, a dance around the fire the next. They have a game warden on staff as well, which is perfect, because they have giraffes in their back yard! Apparently the animals don't really recognize the Masai Mara's boundaries, which was great for us! They advised us to be careful of the hyenas which may or may not cross our path on the way to and from the main lodge building but that was never our experience. In any event, they have staff who will walk you to and from your tent at night. If you are staying near the Masai Mara, stay here. You won't regret it.

Room Tip: You can't miss.

Let's start at the beginning. I spent more than a month checking reviews, writing mails to different kinds of luxury camp sites around the Mara, and I'm very grateful finding myself in Kilima. First of all, I got the most detailed information about my future stay of all as a reply for my booking request. The management has a quick turnaround on answering all your questions. When travelling to such a remote place you have to take into consideration a lot of things like food, where is the hotel is located (in the Mara it's advised to be close to the game reserves, as you might end up travelling hours just to reach the entry gates, but not in case of Kilima which is approx.15 min close to the entry), price-value and so on.

On arrival we were welcomed by the staff and lemon scented wet towels to freshen up. Since we stayed only 4 days / 3 nights, after experiencing our first gastronomical wonder in form of a lunch, we went straight ahead for a game drive. Our guide, James can see the unseen, knows the unknown, and as he says will "make you happy". He is a well known, and respected guide by the rangers and by other guides, he knows exactly where he has to go for you too see the migration (spotted 3 times), the big 5, the action (saw leopard hunting, lions making out and than sleeping all day, saw lion cubs playing with their mother). You can always decide what kind of drive you want to go: full day or more shorter ones.

Arriving back to the campsite - which by the way is not fenced, so don't be surprised if you find yourself staring up with a group of giraffes or a team of zebras, even late at night, or just 2 meters away from your balcony - after reviewing your images, and experiences that day, you should definitely join the campfire every night, to get local delights and insights first hand from two of the camp's Masai warrior who are more than happy to answer all of your questions.

While your having dinner, the staff makes sure, when you return your tent there will be hot water pillows are placed into your bed as it can get chilli this time of the year - I guess it's also due to the high altitude as the camp is located on 1800 meters, oh and btw you will not meet any mosquitoes at all!

Even if you stay just a coupe of days, please make sure you don't miss the bush walk with Joshua the Masai warrior, and the local village, to see how the Masai people live and to experience their kindness, warmth, welcoming nature.

I'm most sure why but we got upgraded to Deluxe tent for two nights, and we spent one night in Classic tent which I originally booked. Both camps are really nice, obviously the deluxe is perfect for families, and since it was just two of us, we could get lost because of the size of the tent. All tents are equipped with flush toilets, outlets, hot running water, comfortable beds, nice furnitures and with the amazing view.

All the meals are decent, tasty and varied, so don't afraid of staying hungry.

There is one thing from what you just can't get enough, and that's the view which is overlooking the entire Masai Mara. Thank you for this wonderful experience! Will return soon.

Room Tip: All tents are overlooking the amazing Masai Mara from 1800m Best time to go is somewhere between Ju...

My wife and I stayed at Kilima Camp for several days in May and had the most amazing time!! The camp is located in a perfect place on a hill where you can see majestic views of the Mara and see a large number of animals. Kilima's guide was well informed, polite and skilled and we were able to see all of the big 5 within 24 hours of our trip! We were even able to see several types of animals roaming around the camp and even spotted the rare civet cat from the restaurant back to the camp. Our tent was quite beautiful and the amenities on the camp helped make our stay so relaxing. The staff were extremely attentive to our needs. My wife planned a surprise birthday gift for me (hot air balloon ride) and the staff all were in on it and were able to keep it under wraps! Every meal we had was really delicious (and the head chef was on leave too!) and the attention to detail with ingredients, presentation and service was well appreciated. What made the trip extra special was how engaging and interactive the owner/manager and staff were with us. We learned a lot about the current unique challenges faced in the Mara with the environment, animals and tourism. My wife and I highly recommend this place.

As I live in Kenya myself, I went back several times to this lovely camp. Not only the staff are very nice, food excellent, ... it is especially the view that makes this camp very unique in the Mara. There are many camps in the Mara surrounded by the same wildlife, but I have not found the one yet that can compete the View of Kilima Camp!!!!! Overlooking the Mara river from your tent is an indescribable feeling, indeed breathtaking. On top of that, the home feeling that you get from the time of arrival makes e go Back Back and Back. Just go there, experience/enjoy it fully and spread the word :)

Room Tip: You can go the whole year round !!!!!

I am just back from Kenya with the family, where we spent time in different places. Kilima is definitely the best of them. The camp is ideally situated close to the airship and the park entrance. The view from there is amazing, The comfort is very high level in the tents. Food is excellent with a very efficient and friendly service. The guides took us for the game drives in brand new 4x4 and know the reserve inside out. They know where to take you to see all the animals. Very highly recommended, I will go back for sure.

Wonderful small camp up on the escarpment.....fantastic views worth the 20 minute drive into the park. Very friendly staff always willing to help, food very good standard and nice to have table service. Tents are well appointed although showers a little tight. Very good value for money. Guides very knowledgeable and nature walk was amazing

Room Tip: All tents have their own view onto the plains below. New family tents good option even for couples
