Description: In April 1962, as Mombasa was growing into one of East Africa's busiest ports, Dalip Singh Wilkhu had a vision. While working as a signal operator for East African Railways, he was inspired to feed arriving visitors while preparing packaged meals for those preparing to depart. Singh Restaurant was born. Since then, Singh Restaurant has fed generations of people from various walks of life... Providing lunches and dinners for entire groups of workers, for families, for individuals... And becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region, and drawing visitors from nearby cities such as Nairobi and Dar es Salaam. Our success comes from high quality in all aspects of our business, from the food we serve, to our operational efficiency, to the atmosphere we provide our visitors from the moment they walk in, until the moment they depart. Our quality of food and quality of service has helped Singh Restaurant gain recognition as the most highly recommended Indian restaurant in Mombasa by sources including TripAdvisor and Lonely Planet.

“Ambiance and Value”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

The ambiance is high quality. The level of cleanliness was impressive. I went there primarily as a vegetarian Indian. However, my African companions were so bowled over by everything there that they became regular patrons of the restaurant every Sunday. The food is authentic Indian but palatable for those who are used to lower quantities of spices provided the same is specified alomg with the order. The one problem Iearnt from the proprietor is that the restaurant is closed for about a month when he goes to his native twon in Punjab, India. They have a weekly holiday too. The dedicated parking area for the customers is a boon in the street notorious for traffic jams.

“Good Food Slow Service”
Reviewed 1 April 2014

This is probably one of the oldest establishment serving Indian food in Mombasa. we visited at the Lunch time. It had air conditioned and non-air conditioned section. We had our meal in air-conditioned section. We ordered Aubergine bhartha, Stuff paratha, Sarson ka Saag and Makai di roti with salted lassi. It took more that 30 minutes to get our order. Food was delicious. we paid about 1680 Ksh (£12).

“Excellent fare in central Mombasa”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

The food here was well priced and delicious. Th Goan Fish Curry was our highlight. We were lucky enough to get a table without a reservation, but were told booking is usually a must. There were lots of Indians eating there, which is always a good recommendation. Lovely and cool too with good air con, and friendly staff. A Mombasa must see / taste!
