“Perfect Trip”
Reviewed 26 June 2012

We took the all inclusive package for a week at the Voyager and didn't have to spend a penny in the hotel! The hotel had its own taxi service which could take you to the nearby shopping centre or on a half day tour around Mombasa, with very good rates and never a long wait it was just what you could ask for. While taking the half day tour the driver was very informed about all the places we went to and was sure to find us a good guide for the area's which needed more knowledge. The three pools means there's something for everyone. Personally I stayed by the "quiet pool" which was an infinity pool looking out onto the beach. The food was plentiful and varied each meal time so there was something for everyone. We were certainly not expecting teh entertainment which was a nice surprise - there was something on every night after dinner, from a rendition of Mama Mia to Acrobats. The bedroom was a fine size with an un-stocked mini fridge so you could put whatever you liked in it (like after-sun!), each room had a nice balcony. The staff were all very friendly and the animation team had something for everyone including trips to the nearby animal park and crocodile village! Would definitely recommend it to anyone, a place where you can easily forget what day it is it's so relaxing!

Room Tip: Rooms in Deck 4 and 5 are quieter at night.

My husband and I went for our wedding anniversay,we had never been to this resort of this side of mombasa.
We where greeted by lovely cheerfull staff waiting for us to arrive with a well needed cold cocktail. There gave us lots of information regarding the hotel and how and where we can get daily information regarding excursions.
Our room had a lovely sea view, clean and had air conditioning which we used so much. The daily entertainment either around the pool with aqua aerobics or in the evening with fantastic, the entertainments team work very hard to make sure that it is enjoyed by all ages. The food is plentyfull and so nice, you will never go hungry or find anything you dont like.

There is also plenty of water sports you can do , weather its on a sail boat or going on the daily boat to snorkle,or even learning how to scuber dive, the staff are very helpfull and patient with people who have never done water sports before.I just can not wait to go back again but this time im going to take my two boys.

Room Tip: The basic rooms are all very nice, but its worth paying that little bit extra for a room with a sea...

First trip to Kenya - the Voyager was a lovely hotel with good facilities. We went on an overnight safari to Tsavo East and stayed at the Ngutuni Lodge, which was beautiful and had great views to the waterhole from the veranda (and our bedroom/balcony). We were only there for a day and a half, but we saw lions, giraffes, lots of elephants, water hogs, zebras, water buffalo, baboons, antelope and various birds. Great experience, and would recommend the hotel - the food was very good, with lots of variety (it is quite asian indian based) with lots of vegetarian options. The staff were lovely and, although the beach boys are quite persistent, they are very polite and will leave you alone if you make it clear you don't want anything. Loved being able wave the red flag for a drink at the pool, what luxury not to have to get your own drinks. We had a fab time, and would go back again.

recently returned from my first trip to Kenya where I spent a week at the Voyager. it was fabulous; nothing was too much trouble. Excellent service, cuisine and standard of accommodation. All in all superb value for money (great deal with Thompson's especially when compared to the on-line prices with Virgin). Would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a Mombasa stay.

Room Tip: I think all rooms have the same facilities and standard. Our friends were more than happy with their...

after deciding about a last minute safari in Kenya for half term we scoured the internet for flights ,ohh what prices . so we stumbled upon a package with Thompsons that would get us out there and give us a few days at the hotel each end.in fairness we had not chosen the hotel we just booked it as a means to an end. Neighbours of our regularly visit here and we had heard alot about it.i do not think there was anything that could be done to avoid the hearding of toursists to the sports bar to get you checked in it was just very impersonal and felt like being at school having your names called out to get you our room.our room was a superior garden room. it was ok 2 double beds it was tired i did not see what could be superior about it at all , but as i said we were only using it for 3 nights so it served it's purpose. it was clean and functional and had a great view over the garden and towards the look out bar.we called to say our fridge did not work and it was swapped within half an hour. the daily cabin clean was good but had to chase them on 2 days for water for cleaning teeth as it was not left after the bathroom had been cleaned. a minor thing. wrt room service /cabin service there was one day our last day when one member of the party was unwell we had phoned 2 times to reception to request they were not disturbed ( as we could not leave our do not disturb sign on the door as it was made out of flimsy laminated paper and blew off the moment we put it up) however room service came and knocked 3 times waking them each time and also the lady who wanted to remove the mini bar and count it was very persistant knocking 3 times and other memebers of the party had to let them in in the evening. when they did come in an see how unwell they were they said did we need a doctor and wish them all the best , so i think it may just have been miss communication but it was not great when someone is unwell.the food was better than we had expected the chefs and servers polite and happy to tell you about the food and also cook any variation on the active stations they could within thier range of ingredients avaliable. i just felt even though it was low season it was a rather big and impersonal restaurant. there was nothing they could do about this it was just to fit in the number of guests, it was clean we ate saldas and fruits and were not unwell the ice was made from purfied water and not a problem. one of the ladies who shows you to the table was excellent when we asked her a question even went to the shop looked if the product was there and took us after we had finishied our meals. the only down side of the service in the restaurant was getting coffee with breakfast it took so long everytime you had finished your breakfast before it came, we got our own as we entered and that solved the problem.

i feel this is a perfectly adequate hotel just a bit too big and touristy for us, it felt a little claustrophobic but please do not let that put you off the other people who we spoke to who wanted a week chilling and swimming and eating good food loved it they had spent 2 weeks there.

we would use the voyager again as part of a trip for just a few days as it did what it needed to do.

thank you to all the staff who looked after us, and especailly those that greeted us back after safari with cool towel and cool drinks very much appreciated.

please see our other review for JT safari who we went on safri with. an Kenyan company and much more competivie prices than the reps and a genuine gentleman who cared about our experience and the money went to kenyan people.

he staff were polite and helpful

Room Tip: rooms in the garden down the end towards the look out bar were noisy when it was windy blowing aroun...

The best holiday ever I can honestly say this....The staff are absolutely amazing they look after you always a smile on thier face, Entertainment staff Excellent always something going on, evenings are great just get the drinks in and enjoy. Always something going on, plenty of choice to eat and dine, drink and wine the hours away. I am going back I hope in 2014 Have to save for the trip but of all the places I could choose I would go back here. Sun Pool and Beach and enjoy the beach boys they love us all they are just making a living, just tell them if you can afford or you cant they are a joy to be around and part of the beach....the security on the beach and on the hotel will look after you ....you are in the good hands, the best at the VOYGER hotel in Mombasa xx Difficult to select the sort of trip MUM and Daughter AMAZING we had so much fun and made so many friends including our beautiful African friends.

We arrived here 23/05/2012 after a weeks safari. We were checked in very quickly and taken to our sea view room, would have been happy with any room. The room was clean and large enough for the two of us with a great view of the ocean. The main restaurant was closed for refurbishment but the make shift restaurant was good enough (did not know any different has we had not been in the main restaurant). The food was excellent, varied, you could have meat, pasta, salads etc. Breakfast was great a good fry up if you wanted or continental if you prefered. There were plenty of activities if you wanted to join in, but were never pressured to join in. The Animation team did a brilliant job of entertainingthe guests. The staff were so happy all the time, smiling, laughing and nothing was to much trouble for them. I could mention some names but I do not think it would be fair in case I missed anyone out. Overall it was a fantastic holiday made special by the accommodation and the staff. A big thank you to everyone at Voyager.
