I was on a business trip to Mombasa for 2 days and I choose to stay this hotel as it was cheap and close to Moi Avenue. But after staying one day I experienced that room is quite sub-standard with short of even bare basic amenities. Staff behavior at reception was ok on first day but was terrible on subsequent day and check-out day. The lady asked me to pay full bill for stay in advance despite my request and telling her the fact that the day was holiday and I did not have sufficient local currency with me to pay her. I just managed to keep some local currency for food, taxi etc on holiday and planned to exchange USD to Ksh on Monday. But the lady (aged about 40) was so inhospitable that she told me straight "I dont know where from you arrange money but you have to pay before you can enter the room........" The discussion (my pleadings) went on for 15 minutes and only when she was fed-up by my repeated answers that I dont have sufficient local currency, she some how had a sort of "pity" on me and very rudely obliged me to accept part payment, despite my request to hold and I will pay on Monday (the next day) morning. But she was so adamant that she asked me to pay all money what I have, leaving just $12 (Ksh 1000) with me for food etc.
It was so disgusting that I promised to myself that I will never ever go to stay Manson hotel again in my lifetime.
Secondly, they have free wi-fi but to use, you need to come down near reception and lobby so that you get signals. In rooms signals are not reaching !!!!
Horrible - I recommend NOT TO STAY in MANSON HOTEL

Room Tip: Advice travellers NOT TO STAY IN MANSON HOTEL. If at all you need to choose then ask for a room on f...

For a budget trip, mason is fine with very friendly front desk..nice room service..laundry. It is located right in the City Centre (excellent) but it could get very noisy outside yet fun for those who enjoy the night life. The room I stayed in was very small and it had mosquitoes but they had mosquito nets and would disinfect on request.

This hotel needs some good customer services and a professional manager. I had a problem regarding the exit, and was told to obtain a clearance pass. I asked the reception ladies why I was not instructed and explained upon check in about how things work here. All I was told was I am supposed to do it like everyone else.....[doesn't even make any sense]The reception ladies were very rude and impolite......and at the some point shouting .....I asked for the manager. I was told to come back next day, they couldn't even give his number...........Then I asked for their names so I can complain which they refused...........This is a mess.....There is no way to contact anyone or report any complaint in the event of an emergency..........you are like a hostage.

Room Tip: Don't waste your money on this hotel................try somewhere else for better customer servi...

This is just in the heart of the city, off Moi avenue, yet its location is too calm and quiet. there is no noise of city traffic etc.
the service is poor, accommodation is just ok or I can say below standard and certainly not at par with other hotels in the city at same cost. I stayed there for 3 nights and when enquired I got to know Saffire hotel which is better that Manson at same cost of Kshg 3500 per night. A/c in room is working but there is no remote, temperature is preset and you dont have a choice to change ! Room service is bad, If you stay for more than 1 day, then also they will not change your mineral water bottle..and toilets are of country style.
I prefered to change to Saffire once I heard about that.

We stayed at The Manson Hotal again on the 29th December for the one night again, mainly becaus it was convenient to the coaches for the trip back to nairobi the following Morning and the fact they don't charge you for arriving before 10am.

As arranged we turned up just about 9am the taxi driver had had problems finding me at the Airport -HE hadn't bothere with a sign though it should have been a SHE that brought my wife to the airport. On checking-In we discovered that the booking had not been put in the diary and that the discount promised for my wife as a resident apparently didn't exist. However on the upside they found 3possible rooms for us and let us choose it. Oddly, we ended up in the room we first used last year which had improved. this time I didn't have to harp on about needing a mosquito net it was fortunately already there. Also the shower had been mended since last year and there was a reasonable stream of hot water, exactly what I needed after the long flight from Gatwick to Mombasa.

The following morning we took our time going down to breakfast as my brother in law had booked a sensible timed coach. Breakfast consisted of an omelette and sausage., 2 slices of toast and a weak cup of tea from a plastic flask. I didn't mind that too much but the flask was taken away before 1) We'd finshed breakfast & 2) It was empty. I had to settle for a cup of coffee instead of tea , not too bad you'd think but coffee in Kenya is worse than tea (unless you're in Kericho apparently). Overall I would probably stay here again -more for convenience than anything but it has a constant problem of taking bookings through Email or it's website but reception or whoever the office bod is that deals with the computers consistently fails to pass the information on to the management -it happened last year too.
