“Surprisingly nice location with a great story”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2012 via mobile

Mombada is certainly not The highlight when looking into sights, however, Haller Park beautiful, you would not expect a park of lush attractiveness in flora and fauna at this place. A former industrially exploited spot transformed into a small, well maintained paradise. All owed to a Swiss guy believing in his idea of growing green again and populate it with some animals. Visit when you are there!

“How a rotten guide spoils a review”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2012

Given the background and some general reading done by me on the Web, I was keen to visit this and visit it, I did. However, our guide just spoilt the experience for us. Apart from the animal feeding and the giraffe feeding, he was just not interested in showing us around and would resist responding to questions. We tried wandering around on our own but the place seemed massive and we did not wish to miss the feeding. Have seen hippo/animal feedings before so was not too keen on that but what did it for me was the giraffe feeding. Must do but the pellets that you feed them tend to get over in minutes so if you find yourself there and hesitating, dont - chances are the pellets will be over before you even realize it as apart from the tourists, a good number of local people also descend to feed the giraffes:). When we came back our driver mentioned that one could also hold or feed a reptile such as a snake under close supervision of a guide - darn our cursed guide.

Anyways, surely a must-do if you find yourself in Mombassa - the general environ is very beautiful and one can wander for hours and do not be shocked if the rock you park yourself on decides to move :).
