Stayed here for 7 days for both a work trip and also stayed a few extra days to sightsee.
The hotel is close to the airport since it's on the edge of the city, but unfortunately you then need cabs to get to most places. But Beijing is not a great walking city either way, so not sure who being in the center of the city helps anyone. It's traffic no matter where you are. I wouldn't that stop anyone from staying here. And we were able to walk to the mall next store of high-end shops and even walked 15 mins to a different neighborhood for a spa appointment.
A real plus, the the hotel has a lot of options, even for fickle eaters. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets at the "taste" restaurant are massive and they have food from around the world. Enjoyed every meal. And we also ate at Grange, the steakhouse, which was excellent with large portions.
I had a corner room which was bigger than the average room. Corner rooms are huge, with nice marble bathrooms. Snag one if you can get it. Beds are comfy Westin heavenly and all amenities are provided. Only negative was they had lots of closets, but no real drawers to lay stuff flat. Rooms are spotless.
Housekeeping came each day on time. And one day I left on my "do not disturb" light by accident. I got a note under my door, and that evening they came back and cleaned it during turndown.
While very attentive, you need to understand you are working with the Chinese culture. They will only answer the question provided. So they won't say "you'll never get a cab during rush hour. Why don't you walk". You need to stand on a cab line, realize none are coming, then ask them "can I walk it?" It was like this with a few things. So ask questions a lot! And if they book show tickets for you, being very clear you don't want VIP seats. I said that we didn't need nice seats, but they booked us in VIP seats anyway which were pricier than we wanted. But overall, they will do whatever you want.
Spa was lovely (had a facial), but the prices are more Western prices instead of the really cheap spa services you can get outside the hotel. Concierge hooked us up with a local food massage place and for $30 had the most amazing 90 minute massage.
We booked our tour guides outside the hotel. I think it's cheaper, and our tour guide seemed to be better than ones others had booked through the hotel.
Most of the staff speaks English very well, making this a good hotel for foreigners.
The decor is very modern and fresh, with a fun lobby bar to get drinks late at night, and also lobby seating perfect for people watching.
