The room was nice and spacious with convenience to Tsinghua University. Breakfast was passable. Good value for money but don't expect a 5 star western style hotel with fully international standards. I would stay again.

Stayed here recently for a week, as part of a visit to Tsinghua University. It's an adequate business hotel, convenient if you are doing business with Tsinghua or the various high-tech companies in the area. Would not really recommend it if you are visiting as a tourist, as it's far away from most sights.

It's conveniently located for work, within short walking distance to Tsinghua. Some restaurants nearby. A coffee shop around the corner of the building, and a Starbucks and 7/11 down the street. As a Chinese four-star hotel, it is probably closer to a three-star U.S. hotel. The Chinese restaurant in the hotel was pretty good. I thought the breakfast was pretty decent, with a reasonably broad selection (fruits, pastries, eggs, congee, noodles, etc.), although it did get a bit repetitive after a week.

The physical facilities are reasonably modern - very shiny and spacious lobby, clean facilities, decent and rather spacious rooms with modern amenities. Bathroom was a good size. Reasonably modern design features, though the fit and finish were perhaps a notch below U.S. standards. Internet (via LAN, not Wi Fi) was perfectly fine for my purposes.

Service was reasonably good for a Chinese hotel. Receptionists were largely able to speak English. Ordered room service a couple of times, and deliveries were reasonably prompt and accurate. All in all, a perfectly adequate place to stay for business purposes.

If you need to stay near Tsinghua University, as I did for work, then your choices are limited. Wenjin is an OK four-star Chinese hotel, but that's equivalent to a two-star joint almost anywhere else. Rooms are adequate, but the bed is plank-like and the furnishings and fittings are all cheap and already fraying. Skip the breakfast - it's dire. There were a few street vendors on the main road outside the hotel in the mornings, and a Starbucks a block away.

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel...

This hotel is conveniently located in the Science District / Silicon City of Beijing. Distance to city centre (Forbidden City) is quite long, so not an ideal tourist hotel. Not many restaurants around - however the Campus of Tsingua Universiy is right behind the hotel and offers 2 nice parks for morning runs. Hotel staff is only partly English speaking and breakfast is OK but not great. Make sure to book upper floor as the streets becone very noisy after 7 am.

I was not sure what to expect as this was my first trip to China and this hotel had been recommended by a friend due to its proximity to Tsinghua University. I was very pleased with every aspect. The lobby is impressive and the staff are friendly and helpful. Their English is not great, but there was no problem. The rooms show a little wear, but are very clean, roomy, and pleasant. The heating system worked fine. No chance to test the A/C in December!
I particularly liked the breakfast buffets that had a great variety of both Chinese and western foods which were fresh and well presented. The dining area was well decorated and very pleasant.
The hotel is in northwestern Beijing so it is not in the main sightseeing area. The subway is reasonably close, and the Beijing subway system is very cheap and easy to use, with good signage in English.
The hotel price was very good. Recommended!

Room Tip: The higher rooms have some views.

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights since it is very close to Tsinghua University where I was working for a number of days. My rate was around AUD150 per night including breakfast. This was good value compared to hotel charges in capital cities around the world. It is very convenient to the technology park and also Peking University

The hotel lobby was well presented and my room was a reasonable size with a small desk which I found useful. The bed was a bit softer than I’m used to, but I found it very comfortable. The bathroom was spotless except for some dark stains in part of the grouting in the shower.

The buffet breakfast had a wide variety for a selection of nationalities, and for Westerners who aren’t adventurous there is fresh bread for toast, a small selection of cooked items (bacon, sausages and baked beans), a selection of pastries, platters of fresh fruit and cereal; on some days the cereal was all bran (good) and other days coco pops (hmmm) and puffed rice balls (OK but not great).

If one needs to speak in English to any staff, I always found the receptionists very helpful and responsive. Other staff I interacted with had very little English but that never caused any problems.

I will be staying here again on numerous return visits.

I stayed here for 2 months in late 2013 (Oct-Dec) and, after paying large sums for the high-end rooms, moved into a long-term arrangement in which I am paying $111 per night. The rooms are nice - large, very well lit, reasonably clean, and with attentive room service. But my contract required that breakfast be included at a charge of $10 per day. The breakfast may be fine for Chinese who like greasy vegetables, sausages, and fried eggs, but for a Westerner who likes lighter, fruit and grain-based breakfasts there is nothing to eat. The two kinds of cereal are high-sugar children's cereal (cheerios and chocolate something), and there is often only full-fat milk. There is no decent bread, and the 'pastries' are all tasteless. I have resorted to buying my own breakfast food (decent cereal, banana) and taking it to the dining room to eat. The hotel should allow long-term residents to opt out of breakfast AND it should work on drastically improving its breakfasts for Westerners. I am still here - alas.

This hotel is owned by (or has a longterm arrangement with) Tsinghua University, so people like me who are working short-term at Tsinghua pretty much all are stuck living here. It's in the Wudaokou area, which offers very little that would count as "charming Chinese living." It's packed with people in the evenings, mostly students from all the nearby universities. NOT RECOMMENDED as a place for a long-term stay.

Room Tip: Do not face Chengfu Road - the traffic is very noisy all night long, even from the 9th floor. The h...
