“Good Duck”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014

I am not as impressed as I used to be by Peking Duck after several experiences in the past 12 months but this was actually very good.

Four adults and a 12 year old went, Starters were Dumplings, Spring Rolls and a very nice soup based on bamboo shoots followed a whole duck.

Starters were all excellent and washed down by Chinese Beer. The Soup was particularly good but be careful as it comes in a large portion so be prepared for all of the party to eat it.

Duck was carved off the table but we could see it being carved. Large lazy susan contained all the traditional vegetable selection with more and two sauces and a basked of pancakes.

Very tasty and delightful>

Restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night and while the service was a bit patchy the staff were unfailing friendly and helpful and in spite of limited English they did understand when we made the effort.

All in all a good experience and certainly top of the list for Peking Duck restaurants so far.
Suggest you phone and book at weekends as it seems very popular.

“Best Peking Duck ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014

Recommended by a friend, this turned out to be a delightful experience, right from the location, ambience, service and of course the food. It was value for money and the restaurant was buzzing with clientele. A must try for every visitor to Beijing.

“A perfect tourist trap”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2013

The food is mediocre - below average but not terrible. Beautiful courtyard setting and decor. Polite but 'raw' service. High prices. No wonder all tables are filled with foreigners (some on a first trip to China). There are better places for Peking duck in Beijing.

“Great introduction to Chinese kitchen”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2013

I was invited by my Chinese Colleagues to this place and they were quite excited. We were seated around a large carrousel table, and they already ordered several starter dishes. Black mushrooms, spring rolls (in salad leafs), some pork, marinated Tofu etc. All very good and tasty. Then several dishes followed Chicken in green tea (very delicate), spicy chicken (very good heat without being too strong), spicy pork, soup with tofu cut like thin spaghetti and some more I forgot. Finally the Peking duck which was very delicate and a must try. Oh and some special fish that looked like it was cooked inside out in a thick red sauce that was very good too.
I never tried "real" Chinese food in Denmark and US - only the traditional abroad Chinese food which I have thought to be greasy and a bit boring. But this meal showed that Chinese food can be very good with a lot of different flavors, textures and delicateness. Definitely worth a recommendation.
Came back a couple of days after as it was next to our conference room, and had some more small dishes. Marinated peanuts, shredded chicken in ginger, the spicy chicken again (yes it was that good). This time was also got some different dumplings that were fantastic – another yummy meal.

“Was very good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2013 via mobile

We arrived at 6pm , the place was empty but they still had to check if a table is free so you may better make a reservation. The food and service was very good. But liver pate was only already sold out. I recommend that restaurant if you come to Beijing just for few days or stay already many years.
