“impeccable service but not so nice location”
Reviewed 12 October 2010

A real great value for money, with superb staff attending to the guests, but an odd location - somehow not in the main tourist location of Beijing and quite a bit of distance to get there. Pool, great breakfast, spacious rooms, and again very helpful staff.
I will come again, even though there is no subway near hotel (you have to take a taxi, but in Beijing they are reliable and chaep)..Beware that most taxi drivers do not really speak English - get your destination written in chinese by hotel staff and simply show - works well!

I am a HHonors Gold VIP, so I was looking forward to this stay because I was betting on being upgraded to an executive floor room with executive lounge access. This is exactly what I received.

Having travelled in China before, I know a lot of hotels are pretty bad, so I wanted to stick with a western hotel this time, especially since I'm part of the HHonors program.

The room was quite nice. The bathroom was clean and the shower was a nice wind-down of the day after sweating through Beijing.

Staff were very nice and the concierge staff was very helpful. We were able to hire a car and driver for 700 yaun for the day to take us to the great wall at Mutianyu (I'd recommend this instead of the other place).

Pros: clean room, air conditioning, clean bathroom.

Cons: location is not ideal for sightseeing in Beijing. Some cabs refuse to take you out here.

I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel.
As a Hilton HHoners member I was upgraded a one bedroom suite, which was very nice. The executive lounge, was OK, there was a broad range of items at breakfast in the lounge, although no eggs? The evening happy hour includes alcoholic beverage and snacks.
The hotel is in a non-descript area, but then from what I saw of Beijing, it all looked much the same. Modern buildings upon modern buildings with massive traffic jam in each direction.
My only complaint was the aircon, as a large northern European I prefer a room to be around 19c; however the aircon seemed to struggle to do this.
If I was in Beijing again, I would consider staying here again

Dear guest,
Thank you very much for your kind compliment to us concerning your most recent stay in our hotel. We are glad to note that you have found your stay to be okay. Actually we provide omelette at our Executive Lounge, if you ask our chef, I’m sure they will happy to provide you with the eggs the way you want to do with. We are sorry about the air condition. We’ll pay more attention in the future.

My team and I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

We arrive at the hotel after a 3 hour bus ride on the busier Beijing street due to the rain and a drop of 7 degree temperature. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman at the door and he shows us the registration counter. The lady at the counter greeted us with a smile, took our information, assigned us a non smoking room that we requested and show the way to our room. The room was clean with fresh smell, even after the rain.

We went to the restaurant and was greeted with smiling waiters and waitresses. We explain to them that we are not hungry, and just want something to eat before retiring. The server suggested we order a half dish of what we like, this way we can enjoy the food and save money at the same time. We agreed. We had a great meal at half the cost. We were glad to be treated so nicely. Thank you all at the Double Tree by Hilton, Beijing for a clean and thoughtful place to stay, and for your kind and wonderful services.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights whilst in Beijing & upgraded to the executive club. The hotel is outstanding & the staff are friendly & courteous. We checked in at the executive lounge and was given a warm cookie and drink at arrival.

The room was a fantastic size with plenty of wardrobe & drawer space. It was very clean and looked very new. The bed was a good size and was very comfy. The bathroom was also a good size, with shampoo, conditioner, bath wash etc. provided and was also very clean. there was a turndown service in the pm.

The upgrade to the executive floor was well worth it, Breakfast is served in the morning, with a wide selection to choose from i.e cereals, pastries, fruit, sausage, bacon, toast. Soft drinks were available throughout the day and drinks including alcholic drinks and snacks available from 5.30 until 7.30 in the evening. Wifi was also available in the executive lounge.

The hotel staff were very helpful, there was times when it was difficult due to the language but they did their best with english language and we got there in the end. The hotels location is a little out of the city centre but to be honest it was worth it for the standard of hotel and the service received. Ray on the concierge desk was very knowledgeable and help us work out how to get to our destination. The hotel runs a shuttle bus 3 times each morning to the nearest subway. There is also a bus (number 7) which stops pretty much outside the hotel which also takes you to the nearest subway station, the cost is 1 Yuan per person (10p).

We traveled around the city on the subway and found it very fast and convenient and also very cheap.

We would definately recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again if we return to Beijing.

I stayed at the Doubletree for 9 nights and enjoyed my stay mainly because of the wonderful service I received from all the employees especially in the executive lounge which I used every day for breakfast and evening snacks.

It is an excellent hotel for business travelers, but just needs to add more services for tourists.
Since I have visited Beijing 14 times starting in 1982, I believe, I am a good judge of hotel quality in Beijing.

It is walking distance to the Tea Street and one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Beijing dating from 750 AD and one of the few with women monks.
