Stayed for a few nights on a work trip to Beijing, and approached this with some trepidation given other reviews. Basically its fine - more like a 2/3 star in the UK, but the rooms were modern-ish, firm beds, good air con, reasonable bathrooms. The whole place stinks of cigarette smoke, but then so does much of Beijing. Wifi is free in the lobby and just about functional there. Never got it to work in rooms, possibly better if you've a wired connection, but don't expect too much.
The hotel has a restaurant on the 23rd floor whcih is just about OK food-wise and has a view of the Birds Nest stadium and even rotates some nights. Not much English spoken, but you can get a beer, just about, with a bit of pointing. Lobby bar is hopeless, so go outside, turn left 100m and go in to Mikes bar which is in the car park. Much better, if a windowless dungeon.
The Gym doesn't exist any more, but there is a park of sorts over the road if you fancy braving the smog.
