“great service, good location, excellent free breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

The hotel is walking distance to the Temple of Heaven. It is about a 20 minute walk to the subway station. Bus station is right on the corner. The staff is extrememly polite and kind. There is an ATM in the lobby, along with a mini-store for essentials. There is free wifi, and an amazing selection of food at the free breakfast!

I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because it is 20 minutes walk to subway; but everything else was perfect. a 20 minute walk is not bad - the hotel is in a very safe area.

Stayed for 5 nights in April 2014 as part of a multi-stop holiday in China. Accommodation was good with a nice sized room and bathroom. A very pleasant room for breakfast with lots of computers available as well as wi fi in the rooms. Breakfast was well presented with a mixture of Chinese and European food. It was a long way from public transport and whilst it was easy to get a taxi from the hotel, it was very difficult to get one back as quite a way out and many taxi drivers did not recognise the address. Very little nearby, we repeatedly asked for advice on local places to eat and reception staff were very unhelpful. I would not stay again because of the location and reception staff.

Recently had a four day visit to Beijing staying at this hotel. Accommodation ok, what you would expect from a mid level hotel, quiet room and well appointed, breakfasts leave a lot to be desired.
Neither East or West cuisine but a poor combination of both, don't expect an English type one.
Hotel location good, close to a number of Chinese restaurants, five minute walk. Use the Beijing taxis, very cheap and good service, take a hotel business card to show driver where you want to go back to, minimal English language.

Room Tip: Expect to eat out for Dinner, hotel food very basic, use the local Restaurants. Cheap by Australian...

Our company were having a company trip to Beijing this year and we reach the hotel nearly 02.00 am in the morning with a flight arrival into Beijing at half past midnite. The hotel staff were very helpful and we were quickly check into the hotel as all of us are too tired for more. The room were not that big but the cleanliness were well taken care by the hotel staff. Hotel location were quite close to all those tourist attraction area but not accessible by walking. There are few restaurant around the hotel area which could be reachable. Stay there 4 night and the breakfast were almost the same which highly suggest that the F&B could seriously look into improving the menu.

We were indeed fascinated by an extra miles service excellence rendered by hotel associates. We arrived at PEK capital terminal 2 very early in the morning. I called the hotel and Sarah had given me the right direction from airport to hotel. Also as hotellier, I indeed very much appreciated of allowing us my request for an early checked-in, non smoking and higher floor room. Your housekeeping have done a good job in keeping immaculately clean and complete set up of amenities of the room from my arrival to post stay. The food and beverages associates were also be commended for the speed of services they have rendered during breakfast time. As Asian I am satisfied with varieties of dishes selection at the buffet dishes but this hotel would be more competitive if some varieties of western and mediterranean breakfast dishes be included in their breakfast menu selections cycle on a daily basis just like the hotel where we transferred after staying in this hotel. I really appreciate Front Office staff named Liza for an outstanding service excellence she had rendered with us. She has been very helpful for all of my querries. It was a seamless checked out we have and even assisted us of getting taxi and spoke to the driver the destination of the hotel where we transferred. Over all it is indeed a very memorable experiences we have at Holiday Inn Express and will surely come back again in future.

The hotel is 15 minutes walked to temple of Heaven. Truly it takes about 20 to 25 minutes to reach the MTR stations from hotel back and forth, however there is a public bus #59 and# 40 to ride for .20cents at Taoranting street bus stop. If you are a budget traveller arriving at PEK Capital airport #2 or #3 you will only spend 27.40 yuan/person to reach Holiday Inn hotel. From airport just take express train from PEK terminal and pay 25 CNY to the ticketing counter, also include to buy YIKATONG card a least with a credit of 50CNY or depending of how much budget you have for your transportation in visiting tourist places in Beijing.Your load has a 20CNY deposit that can be refunded when you return the card before leaving Beijing.it takes about 30 mins travel time to (Dongzhimen subway station) from Airport. From Donzhimen station you tranfer to LINE# 2 and take the train going to (Xuanwumen sta.) which is the 8 stations for you to alight.. Transfer again to LINE#4 and take the train to (Taoranting sta.) which is on the 2nd station for you to alight. then exit the subway on EXIT C. Proceed to the corner of Taoranting road on your right then walk 2 mins to bus stop and board either #59 or #40 and tap your Yikatong card as bus fare for .20 cents be deducted on your card credit. From there just alight on the 2nd bus stop ( Taiping Bus stop (Morgan Center,WU Mart)approx 5 mins travel time. Walk to the corner of Nanwei road then follow on the 2nd block which the Holiday Inn Express. To sum it up it will takes about 1:45 mins from Airport to hotel. It is very helpful for you if you will have a hard copy of downloaded Beijing MTR subway station MAPS at internet before going to Beijing.

Room Tip: Higher floor and non smoking room

Compared to my stays at Holiday Inns in the States; this one took the cake. The rooms were very clean and the bathrooms were spacious. The only qualms I had was that the beds were a bit small, also the mini fridge didn't keep the drinks cold.

Around the hotel, there isn't much to do. All the attractions are a couple stops away by metro (temple of heaven, forbidden city etc). There also isn't many places to eat around the area either making it difficult to have other options besides the hotel. The places I did see were not appetizing in the least bit.

The ATM machines also gave us counterfeit bills which was a hassle in itself.

Other than the above mentioned I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel overall can't say is fantastic but it is above average. The room is average clean and the service is alright too. Although, I am glad that they can speak English and that's a big plus. But what I like about the hotel is the location. Very close to wherever you want to go in Beijing and even just near by, there are plenty of restaurants and shops.
