This little hotel with its small rooms is not for the traveller in search of comfort. Evereything is tiny. But it is in the middle of a Hutong, and just steps away from a major
'hang-out' street. It also preserves the Hutong atmosphere, I was looking for. And I was received more like a friend than like a hotel guest. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

Nice and easy-going place, great location (but there is a little walk to subway) in the middle of main historic monuments, 3-steps from cosy bars (totally unlike the bling-bling bars of houhai) and cafes, and in the middle of a hutong neighbourhood. It is ideal for a great feel of Beijing.

In between hotel and hostel, rooms are tidy and comfortable, and as there are only 8 rooms (book in advance, by mail or phone, staff can speak english), there is a very homey atmosphere. After 12 hours flight and a train ride, you feel right back at home!

Staff is very kind and helpful. Forgotten stuff is taken care of professionally. Trust is the key word.

If I ever go back to Beijing, this is definitely the place to go to. I already recommended this place to people I have met during my trip.

Perfect location in the middle of the best hutongs and close to main sightseeing spots.
However you can easily reach local streets, supemarkets, shops by walking distance to run away from massive touristic atmosphere.
Services is EXCELLENT. Special mention to Nora and Alex for making me feel at home.
Rooms are ok and clean.
Totally recommended!
Alex

I booked this hotel for my family trip (through the internet) because I am fed up with Chinese business hotels that I need to use while on business trips. Though it looked nice at the brief introduction on my hotel booking website we did not know what we could expect. Yet, after arriving we immediately liked it and felt at home. After maybe an hour our daughter was busy to play with the staff who were also always around and ready to help in anything that came to our mind. It was also great to have plenty of interaction and sharing of information with other guests. Since the "hotel" (there must be another name for it as it does not really capture the service in this place) is situated right in the middle of a hutong (traditional Chinese neighborhood) and uses the traditional infrastructure you experience and are exposed to tradtional Chinese lifestyle. Therefore, the facilities won't get a star in the normal hotel rating, while all are newly established and clean.
In summary, if you are looking for a centrally-located, cozy and communicative accommodation while being able to sacrifice on quiteness and room size, this is the place to go. We and our daughter loved it.

I stayed in this lovely hotel for five days after a five day business trip in a fancy uptown hotel. After being treated like a VIP in the first half of my visit with banquets, a huge room, and wonderful events, I moved to Hutong Ren and felt immediately welcomed by the staff. Each day there was some one to chat with as I came in and out from my adventures, returning back from such a bustling city to this tiny alleyway to the tiny light filled courtyard for some tea or a beer and the friendly talk with the staff and other guests made me feel like I had a little bit of community instead of just being a tourist. The hotel its self is small, with about 9 rooms of various sizes each facing a small courtyard, a tree grows up through the reception area so it feels like an outside space, though it is covered by a bubble roof. Each room has it's own bath and the rooms and bath were small but clean and comfortable. It was a wonderful experience and a fun neighborhood to be located in, close to many of the big attractions I found myself easily to stumbling upon small parks, interesting side streets and local activity. They also offered breakfast each morning and were planning other restaurant services while I was there.
