“good location but need some improvement”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2012

The hotel is located in Qian Men district, just a few steps away from the Qian Men street which a lot of stores. You can walk to Tian An Men (Gate of heavenly peace) square. The room is clean with modern decoration. But for some reason, I did not have good sleep there. And the breakfast taste very bad.

A good hotel located near the Forbidden City and Qiamen shopping, but there are many drawbacks: the staff speak very little English, which made it quiet difficult at times, especially when we arrived late at night and they had no record of our prepaid reservation! They were all very friendly and tried their best to help. The rooms are very large, and the bathrooms are spacious with plenty of complimentary toiletries. I don't think housekeeping cleans the rooms, they just make the bed, and replace towels that are not on the rack. Also we had to ask for a carpet vacuum when we arrived because there were huge dustballs. Breakfast is a good deal (about $6 USD pp) but it's basically dim sum, and the sanitation of the dining room is questionable. I wouldn't pay more than what we did ($44 USD).

The hotel is clean enough and the breakfast is ok. Rooms are spacious. Location is great - 15 minutes to Tyananmen', means about 20 to the Gugun gates.Very nice walking and dining area right around the corner.
However rooms are not very well maintained - see photos.
The wall between the room and bathroom is half-glass - not everybody would appreciate that.
Take only NON-smoking rooms. Neighbours in smoking area are smoking a lot with open doors and the corridor and your room will be smelling.

Room Tip: Take only NON-smoking rooms. Neighbours in smoking area are smoking a lot with open doors and the co...

The location is good, but once we went out for breakfast and someone got into our room and stole money from us. No one could have had the keys to our room except for the staff of the hotel. We were absent for about 30 minutes, so they saw us leave the room, went inside and stole money from our bags. We went to the reception immediately after discovering this, but they refused to help us, did didn't even call the police. The know that all the tourists staying in the hotel are not there for long, they will just be staying for a couple of days so they probably won't have enough time to go to the police or have some kind of investigation. Staff is completely unhelpful, don't speak english, they are rude. I wouldn't recommend staying here to anyone

A.)We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The first night, we came back from a long tiring day and wanted to relax in our cool room, but we were told that we cannot adjust the temperature of the aircon since its the gov't's rule. So we slept in a not so cool room for 3 nights. So if you're an aircon person, i wouldnot recommend u to stay during september. Better on a october or november when its a bit cooler.
B.)a very big open area in the middle but very few sofas to sit and relax aside from the cafe where each person had to order.
C.)check out time, we were told that we got their laundry bag and charged us 200yuan. Which we fought back by speaking in a louder voice.
D.) conciege/reception not helpful at all. Always grumpy and not smiling.
E.) asked the bellboys to get us a taxi and was told that a taxi for airport costs 250yuan. We asked for a regular metered taxi which the insisted us to look for one on our own. They told us that one of us had to watch for our belongings (suitcases). They were not willing to help us find or watch our stuff. As soon as we found one taxi, thebellboys never dared to help us put our suitcases in taxi. Just stood beside watching. A metered taxi cost us just 100yuan to get to the airport.

I would never want to stay in this hotel and recommend at all!!

Although not luxurious, the rooms were very nicely laid out, with large comfortable beds and good facilities. The hotel is in the southwest part of the city which is a little far from the major shopping/business districts but very handy for Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Getting around Beijing by walking, on the subway or even cabs, is very easy anyway. Apart from the breakfast, which lacked variety, at least for western tastes, it was a decent hotel where a good night sleep was assured. The check-in staff were efficient and friendly. Wifi was free. Room service was quick.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room
