“Good Hotel at a Good Location”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

I stayed here for a week on a business trip to Beijing in June 2014. The hotel is pretty good and the rooms are pretty clean. The best part was that most of the staff spoke a good level of English. :):)

The location is in an area called the CBD and was perfect for me my work was within 10 minutes from the hotel. It is also very close to the famous Silk Market.. There is also a train station nearby which you can use to go to the Forbidden City..There a lot of restaurants nearby so food is not a problem..

The hotel also has a sports bar and a couple of restaurants. The have two breakfast places in the hotel. One is called Justine's and I do not remember the other.. Both are very good with a lot of choices and healthy too. I got upgraded room on my second visit and so my complementary breakfast was in Justine's which is slightly better than the other place..

Overall, this hotel is ideal if you have want to live in the CBD area..

Judging by earlier reviews, it seems like I must have got the worst room in the hotel. It was a poky little room at the very end of the hotel.

The room was very basic and looked like it hadn't been upgraded for a while. Which is true for the hotel also - seemed stuck in a time warp. Yes the location is convenient, but I would choose to stay somewhere else the next time I am in Beijing.

If you enjoy a garden view, floral smelling hotel, and beautiful floral arrangements, you will enjoy this hotel. It has a good location, excellent buffet breakfast and nice rooms. I felt it catered to westerners, and had no trouble with the staff at the desk; however, our Chinese guide checked us in and out of the hotel. It is not a luxury hotel, but very nice. I would definitely stay here again.
We had 6 rooms in the hotel, and they had all been renovated. Location, Location, Location!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the interior garden.

This hotel had great service and the staff all spoke a good level of English. The room was lovely and we could not hear other people in adjoining rooms. The room was cleaned to a high standard and the balcony gave us a great view of the street in front of us. Although the hotel looks old on the outside when you go inside it is lovely.

The location is good as it is just next to a tube station which is near to many interchange stations.

The only problem was the price of the bar. A drink cost 40RMB +15% surcharge making a drink about 5 times as expensive as a standard restaurant. The most expensive drinks we could find after this were 35RMB per drink.

A good stay.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of street have road noise. Rooms facing away and onto the gardens are quieter.

i stayed in Jianguo again for 3 nites and it was as good as before. this time I decided to go for the executive floor as i like the happy hours.furthermore this entitles you to have the breakfeast in the restaurant and not in the coffeeshop whci offers a more comfortable seating and a slightly better choise of food.
I tried various other hotels during the past 20 years but I decided to return to Jianguo.
There are definitely more modern hotels in Beijing, but jianguo still keeps a family character.
The groundfloor rooms facing the garden are also recommendable.

The only little thing to be critizised is the development of Charlies bar. The good old bar is no longer existing in the way as it was, sometimes changes are not always a good idea.

I will return again on 17th August and stay in executive level again.

Room Tip: executive floor or groundfloor garden side

I stayed here on the last couple of nights of a business trip. It is just a few minutes walk to the Silk Market and easy for getting to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City given its proximity to the Yong'Anli underground station.

The food in the cafe/restaurant was very slow but the food was fine when it eventually arrived. I think that generally the service was pretty slow compared to what we experienced elsewhere in China but it was so convenient for the tourist sites after a week long conference.

Most of us had rooms on the Club floor but there was a lot of variation even there where some of us had 2 level rooms and others had pretty standard size rooms.

It was very comfy and the service was fine, especially given we were out most of the time sightseeing.

All in all I guess nothing to write home about but comfy and pleasant with a great location.
