I stayed here for 4 nights at the start of August and LOVED it. Title says it all, really. The location is pretty good, handy for the subway, local shopping mall and lots of taxis around if that's what you prefer. Never heard anyone in the rooms next to mine and that's unusual in Beijing, but I don't know if that was because of good soundproofing or if they were just empty. The restaurant where you have breakfast is beautiful - made even me feel like one of the cool kids - and the range of food available at breakfast was great.

Room Tip: Free internet access in your room if you have a Marriot Rewards Card

A spectacular hotel near shopping centers and not too far, by cab, from Tienenmen Square. We had an upgraded room, which was the size of a small suite, with couch, huge bathroom, and access to club floor, where we ate both meals. Look for weekend specials. A beautiful garden area near hotel provided a great place to walk in the mornings.

Travelled to Beijing on business and stayed for 3 days! Was very impressed by the quality of the rooms; lavish breakfast spread; high class amenities; impeccable service and quality restaurants. All this at a reasonable room rate (maybe because of company tie-up). Also, the location was very convinient as it was close to downtown/restaurants/bars etc. Walked down to a close by Quanjude Peking Duck Place and had a great meal

Room Tip: Great views all round!

Pro:
- Decor is very modern & chic. Plus the place is very clean as well
- Near subway (Shuanjing station, 5 mins walk)
- Sound proofing is good
- The magnet card never fails :) (this is special because in other hotel typically it would failed 1-2 times)
- The gym and indoor roof top pool is nice

Cons:
- Service is not very good (lack of English, very slow check in, confusion on internet - supposed to be free but they charged you although will net off at the end)
- If you have any dietary restriction, staying here is a challenge because they don't put clear info what are the food they are serving (except the breakfast/lunch buffet) and sometimes even the vegetables are mixed with meats (i.e. in Fat Duck restaurant - although it was not mentioned in the menu)
- LImited international TV channels

I spent a week at the Renaissance Capital Hotel in Beijing recently and truly enjoyed my entire stay there. I had a beautiful room on the 12th floor with a King size bed and plenty of room for a desk, lounge sofa, coffee table and TV/computer/fridge/coffee cafinet with lots of drawer space as well. The bed had large side tables as well and was so comfortable with lovely linens and comfy pillows. The bathroom was spectacular - with glass walls ! But - there were really nice fabric blinds that you could bring down with a touch of a button on the wall in the bathroom if you wanted privacy. As I was in a tour group, but had a room of my own, it was fine as it was. with the open glass walls. This hotel is directly across the street from a new shopping mall, Starbucks there as well as other American food outlets (Pizza Hut, KFC) if you wanted them. The buffet in the hotel is fabulous. Everything you could possible want. Great staff, very friendly. A super place to stay and easy access to all the Beijing tourist attractions even though the hotel is in the CBD (Central Business District). I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Bye the way, there is a free hotel shuttle bus to the Silk Market shopping plaza (6 storey flea market of new products) where you can really bargain for stuff. You can usually get what you want for about 1/4 to 1/2 of the initial price stated ! Ask the hotel desk for the time schedule for the free shuttle.

Room Tip: Best to ask for a quiet room and you will usually not be placed near the elevator. Also ask to be on...

Used points to stay at the Renaissance Capital in Sep'11. Were given a room on the club floor with club lounge access.
Room: Very spacious, modern and comfortable. We had a view of the road below and of the rooftop of the building opposite, but plenty of natural light.
Bathroom: Clean but showing signs of age in the shower area with a few yellowing tiles. Otherwise very modern fittings with a glass wall dividing it from the room (has blinds that can be lowered). Good selection of toiletries that are replenished daily.
Club Lounge: By far our favorite part of the hotel - great location on the 24th floor with city views. Huge lounge area with plenty of comfortable seating and a separate business lounge area which has 3 computers, a printer and scanner and is also located next to a small conference room. The lounge serves a decent breakfast spread and also serves drinks and snacks from 5-7pm with beverages, cookies and fruit available throughout the day.
Gym & Pool: Brilliant gym with a huge range of exercise equipment and cardio machines. The pool is indoors and heated. Both not crowded and set in very generous spaces.
Restaurant: Had dinner at BLD - really good food with an "International menu"... the Chinese entrees are not very authentic and geared towards tourist palates ... but their other restaurant, "The Fat Duck" has won awards for its Peking Duck.
Staff/Service: Very helpful throughout the hotel. Language/Communication is a bit of an issue but that's the case throughout Beijing. However, if a staff member is unable to comprehend a request, they immediately request another, usually senior member to attend.

This hotel is very nice...the personnel are helpful ,even if not fluent in English. They do try to help with your issues and address them as quickly as possible. Had room service for dinner and it was fine....Excellent location . One doesn't need to leave the area to find what you desire...mall close by, 7-11 one block away, massage spas close by . Close to the subway . Room was fine ,but one must be careful in the bathroom when the floor is wet....very slippery.Very large room BUT it was noisy, I was on the street side ,corner room and could hear traffic... Ear plugs a must or request different room ...

Room Tip: Request room on the inside ,away from the streets....way too noisy.
