First room allocated was simply AWFUL. Room was very small and like an oven.30° with still no air con, despite being early May. The bed creaked loudly at every turn. Despite our complaints, and the complaints from our Wendy Wu guide, it was not until the following day that we were given a room that we were happy with. An upgrade is essential at this hotel - executive rooms are far superior.Our second room was large, great kingsize bed, great views and double,double glazing, so nice and quiet. Tea and coffee, mini bar and good selection of complimentary items.
You cannot charge anything to the room, so dry cleaning, bar etc must all be paid by cash upfront.
The bar area was excellent , great choice best yet throughout our Wendy Wu tour. Even white wine, by a very large glass and very reasonable.Our group enjoyed this facility and we could all meet up and have a chat.
Overall the tables, wooden panels in lifts are all chipped and look worn, and most of ths standard rooms are awful.But, if you pay to upgrade, you can have a good stay here. If you have a late flight you can also pay to keep your room until 6pm.
Breakfast room was pleasant . Toast machine, fried eggs and omeletes were good.Everything else was chinese options. Fresh juice decent tea, coffee not great.
We tried the restaurant on last night(extra to tour) as we waited for our tfr to airport.
They had a buffet option or a la carte. Western options too -pizza etc. Food ok but would have eaten outside if we hadnt had our luggage.
I would recommend asking Wendy Wu for upgraded room when you recieve hotel names on tour ticket and not at recepion as they are not very accomodating.

Room Tip: Pay upgrade to an executive room

Our room was OK, however other other people were very dissatisfied to the point they asked for another room (would strongly advise that you check room before occupying). Very clean and comfortable lobby with free Wi-Fi (lobby only). DO NOT expect lobby bar & laundry to be booked back to your room as this Hotel can't seem to grasp this concept overall I would rate this 5/10 because we found it frustrating that we couldn't book any thing back to the room.

First hotel on our Wendy Wu tour and what I was expecting - comfortable, clean but a little worn around the edges. Good lobby area to meet and have a drink with all our new friends. Convenient stores within walking distance and our first night’s sleep on a firm Chinese mattress. Breakfast was good, western options. A satisfactory hotel.

Arrived at hotel and checked in - room temperature in excess of 28 degrees C. They opened a small window to vent it - the air con couldn't be turned on until 1 May!
Breakfast was poor with cooked food nearly lukewarm. Not enough tables to accommodate everyone.
No wifi in rooms - to access had to go to lobby and that was terribly slow.
All in all a very bad experience!

This hotel is not bad--it has lots of good things and several bad things.

GOOD THINGS_________________
●Has a lot of breakfast options
●Has wi-fi in the lobby
●Internet cable for computers in the rooms
●Water boiler
●Lots of free water every day
●Western toilets
●Good shower
●Relatively quiet location

BAD THINGS________________
●No wi-fi in rooms
●Fire staircase is LOCKED at the bottom
●Some of our rooms did not have air conditioning. This was April, so it was not too bad.
●Some things is the room were exceptionally dirty (such as faucets)

Overall, our stay was nice, and this hotel had many good things, but it also had several bad things. We hope that Tian Tan Hotel will improve the bad things, and that it will become a five-star hotel. :)

The good: centrally located, walking distance from the temple of heaven; close to tian an men; clean rooms; friendly staff; hotel has an own ATM machine; wi-fi in the lobby;

The bad: located in a rather dull district, nothing happens much in the evening around it, you're forced to go somewhere by taxi; the hotel has an even duller lobby bar adorned with fake palm trees and kenny G music; weak wi-fi; smelly toilets;

Tips: massage parlours near the hotel are overpriced with mediocre service; there is a great show at the red theatre right next to the hotel; there is a great Beijing roast duck restaurant in the street of the theatre; some rooms have a nice view on the Central Business District's skyline

Stayed here for three nights, whilst I spent very little time in the hotel, I did find a few things annoying. The lighting in the room was very poor, bathroom lighting excellent, but the room itself was dark. Bed comfortable and good water pressure in shower.

Wi Fi only in the lobby area annoying, but at least it was quick and worked consistently. Breakfast room very very small and seemed to be a problem when you have lots of people, they didn't seem to really care about this. Not the greatest selection of food on offer.

Location of the hotel really convenient for doing the tourist things.
