There was 4-6 people standing around behind the check-in desk and only one person working. We were customer number two with two other parties waiting behind us. Check in took 30 minutes.

The room was adequate although tired. Wifi only in the lobby unless hard wired. There was a safe and refrigerator in the room.

There are almost no restaurants in the area. We ate at the 'western' restaurant in the hotel. We started with a salad and was pleased it was fresh and tasty. However, things went severely downhill from there. The remainder of our meal was almost indelible and the cost was higher than the lavish buffet eaten the evening prior at the Beijing Marriott. Very disappointing.

Awkward entrance location (around back) however the lobby is nice once inside. Check-in went as smooth as possible for a large such as ours (33 people). After all passports were handed over, getting the room keys went quickly. We stayed in room 922 with a view over the front parking lot but out toward city-center. The smog blocked our view most of the time but did clear for one day which was nice. Our room had two twin beds instead of a queen or king but we realized they didn't understand we were a married couple for one reason, we have different last names and secondly, we were part of a large group that was mostly students.
Beds were firm but not excessively. Our room was huge even by NYC hotels of same price. We had a flat screen & hard wired internet. Wi-Fi was in the lobby. Our package included breakfast which was very nice - and full. I would recommend this hotel to any groups or businessmen.

The room was well sized and comfortable. The beds were firm but not rock hard like the previous hotel. The air conditioning brought in other people's smoke particularly during the night so you were either warm and had clean air or cool and passively smoking. We chose to stay warm. The breakfast selection was good but the whole experience was poor because of a lack of tables. Staff didn't seem to care and ignored pleas to help find seats. Be prepared to share a table with rude Chinese people - we seemed to get our fair share of them!

Clean room, big enough for two, clean bathroom.
Breakfast is good. But rather boring if you stay 3 night as I am.
Location near most Beijing attractions, but it's difficult to find store nearby if you need something to drink or to buy.
But after explore around a little, you should find some groceries and small restaurant, a block behind tian tan hotel.

We stayed at the hotel twice and there was quite a difference in the quality of the room. Overall it was ok. There was some good things (UK and Europe compatible sockets, good choice at breakfast) and some bad ones (difference in cleanliness and quality of rooms depending on the floor you were on).
The service at the bar in the lobby was pretty bad - they could not cope with more than one order at the time (and that took a while to accomplish). But the lobby was nice with free wi-fi.

First room allocated was simply AWFUL. Room was very small and like an oven.30° with still no air con, despite being early May. The bed creaked loudly at every turn. Despite our complaints, and the complaints from our Wendy Wu guide, it was not until the following day that we were given a room that we were happy with. An upgrade is essential at this hotel - executive rooms are far superior. Our second room was large, great kingsize bed, great views and double, double glazing, so nice and quiet. Tea and coffee, mini bar and good selection of complimentary items.
You cannot charge anything to the room, so dry cleaning, bar etc must all be paid by cash upfront.
The bar area was excellent , great choice best yet throughout our Wendy Wu tour. Even white wine, by a very large glass and very reasonable. Our group enjoyed this facility and we could all meet up and have a chat.
Overall the tables, wooden panels in lifts are all chipped and look worn, and most of ths standard rooms are awful. But, if you pay to upgrade, you can have a good stay here. If you have a late flight you can also pay to keep your room until 6pm.
Breakfast room was pleasant . Toast machine, fried eggs and omeletes were good.Everything else was chinese options. Fresh juice decent tea, coffee not great.
We tried the restaurant on last night(extra to tour) as we waited for our tfr to airport.
They had a buffet option or a la carte. Western options too -pizza etc. Food ok but would have eaten outside if we hadnt had our luggage.
I would recommend asking Wendy Wu for upgraded room when you recieve hotel names on tour ticket and not at recepion as they are not very accomodating.

Room Tip: Pay upgrade to an executive room

Our room was OK, however other other people were very dissatisfied to the point they asked for another room (would strongly advise that you check room before occupying). Very clean and comfortable lobby with free Wi-Fi (lobby only). DO NOT expect lobby bar & laundry to be booked back to your room as this Hotel can't seem to grasp this concept overall I would rate this 5/10 because we found it frustrating that we couldn't book any thing back to the room.
