“Beijing City Wall Marriott”
Reviewed 20 October 2013 via mobile

As usual Marriott Hotels in foreign lands provide first class accommodation and a breath of fresh air from a pungent city!
The lounge was a godsend!
The waitresses were very hard working and waited on all of your food and drink needs!
If I ever go back to Beijing it will definitely be to a Marriott!

I recently had the pleasure at staying at this Marriott in Beijing. The room was wonderful and the staff was so helpful. If you want or need to be in the center or southern area of Beijing this is a great place to stay. Now I will say that if you get the complementary breakfast that is a great deal. I was not eligible and did not seeing paying $35USD for breakfast was worth it. However, it looked very nice. There were restaurants nearby and a short cab ride to some good night clubs. I have no problem recommending this for a future stay.

Enjoyed a weekend stay here recently and am happy to report some of the plusses: modern facilities all around - from the luxurious reception and waiting area with massive chandeliers on the main floor, to the clean public bathrooms, elevators and dining areas. Our deluxe room was spacious even with two firm double beds, couch, closet, large tv, mini fridge, etc. Our view overlooking a shanty area was underwhelming but we were mostly too busy exploring the city to gaze out much. The bathroom had every amenity including a full tub and a separate stall for the shower, along with generous toiletries. The hotel is positioned not far from the railway station (from which we walked about 30 minutes) and a bus stop that reaches area attractions and shopping, if you choose to navigate this massive city on your own. We had access to the business lounge that offered a good complimentary breakfast, drinks and snacks throughout the day. It caters to Western taste buds so don't expect to be wowed with genuine Asian cuisine. This lounge also has a business center which was underutilized since the comp Wi-Fi in our room provided good connectivity. The air con worked really well and the staff was generally pleasant and helpful. All in all, a comfortable fish bowl in an enormous ocean of ancient, now and future.

Marriott never disappoints, and this is no exception. In the middle of Beijing, literally. If you are into history, this hotel is right next to the Ming Dynasty City Wall preserve park. The hotel has a couple of really good restaurants.

My husband and I stayed here for four days. The breakfast buffet was great, the pool area was wonderful, and the staff was so helpful any time we needed help. They set up a driver to get us to the great wall, and any time we wanted to go any where they would print out directions for the taxi

We stayed here for one night post cruise.
The hotel is ok, service is average, beds comfortable. The location not to bad and taxis were available if needed. As we had paid for breakfast but were being collected for our flight in the morning at 5.30am we were given a box breakfast. Yesterday's pastries (2), piece of fruit, small bottle of water. I should have known better and not paid for breakfast. The staffs English is not to good but a lot better than our Chinese. I don't think I would go back

This is an excellent hotel in a HUGE city. It offers all the amenities which you expect from a Marriott; excellent room, great breakfast, and even nighttime entertainment in the lobby. Many employees have good to excellent knowledge of English making communication easier.

While the hotel experience is everything you would expect, the location may not be. The hotel is near a train station, a subway stop, and a few fast food restaurants, so there is not much to do in the immediate area. Expect to use the subway or a cab to go anywhere.

Having said this, be aware that this city is so huge that no hotel can be near everything you may choose to see and you will have to use transportation no matter where you are.
