“All credits to Mark!”

We stayed in kelly' s courtyard for 8 nights. the location is a little difficult to find but good..its nearby the metro and the city centre and all the hotspots. The rooms are ok... the beds are a little small and the shower is next to the toilet so everything gets wet very quickly. The rooms are well cleand every day and you get fresh towels every day. The courtyard is really nice and also they have a rooftop terrace were you can sit and drink a beer or relax. breakfast is simple but fine. The negative thing is that the rooms are all connected to the courtyard so you hear the people and the staff talking all the time and also in the early morning...

The plus is Mark!!, he really is a nice guy and does everything to help you and inform you. He gives good and honest advice and is eager to help you all the time. Overall its a good place to stay and worth the money if you can stand a little noise;)

To start with, this place is hard to find! Not one taxidriver we met this trip knew the place. The map on the website isn't very helpfull, me and my boyfriend thought we'd been scammed since the address we found (the big hutong) didn't belong belong to a hotel. Luckily, Mark came and helped us from the big hutong to the small one. Once we got there it was a convenient location.

We stayed at Kelly's 6 days in July. Our room was clean and neat, not very luxury but we didn't stay in BJ to sit in the room all day long. The bathroom was quite nice with a western style toilet. But really it's the courtyard and the roof terrace that makes Kellys something special.

The small breakfast (continental, toast, jam, tea/coffee and some fruit) was served in the beautiful courtyard with vintage furniture and a small pond. Even though it seemed to be too few tables for all of us living there, it showed to be a good way to start chatting with the other guests. We met three guys from the US which we hung out with in the evenings and had some interesting talks about politics :) Plus for playing old jazz music during the day and evening.

We also got a lot of help from Mark to find good places to eat. I highly reccomend the hot-pot restaurant 15 min walk away inside a wedding warehouse.

Overall, good value for money!

Stayed for 3 nights, located in a hutong off one of the main shopping roads making it great place to explore Beijing from (thanks to subway stop nearby)! It has breakfast, air conditioning and our room had a TV as well. Mark, the hotel manager, is really helpful and nice. He will make your stay much better, just ask him whatever you need!
Only drawback is mattress is quite small for taller people!

I stayed 4 nights at Kellys and loved the experience of a courtyard hotel in a houtong. The hotel is charming and cozy, which made it a pleasure to come back to each evening. The center of the courtyard is covered, allowing guests to gather there in the evening to chat about the day and their future travel plans while enjoying the airconditioning. There's also a lovely rooftop lounge which is perfect for a drink at night.

Mark was incredible helpful, from proving my mother with an email letter to help her get her visa to arranging a car to the Great Wall, he really helped us every step of the way. He has lots of great suggestions for seeing Beijing.

The houtong itself was a great place to exlpore and I enjoyed stoping by the little local noodle shops for lunch. I highly recommend this hotel!

Stayed here for three nights, really enjoyed our time here. The hotel is located close to the metro station, some restaurants and shops (ask for directions!) and is fairly modern.

The room was small but clean and contained what we needed, the same was to say about the breakfast, basic but fine.

Mark was our friendly host that was 24/7 available to help out, and that came in handy. He gave some good advice where and when to visit the Great Wall, helped with restaurants and our planning when we left and had to to go to the main station.

We liked the cheap drinks and snacks and the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. Relaxing on the rooftop terrace after a tiring day in Beijing was really great!

Character - LOTS of it! We really liked the Green house feel in the "courtyard" and loved relaxing with a bottle of wine/champagne on the rooftop area. The honor "minibar" up front was a great feature when we wanted a cold drink or snack without running out

Staff - Mark was very friendly and would go the extra mile to help look up info for us

Location - In a Hutong. great cheap drinks (1 yuan) when you enter the main hutong street with a very friendly/smiley old man. We liked him so much - we always made sure to go to him for our water. Originally booked this thinking staying by Forbidden City/Square would be good. It was sometimes difficult to get taxis home at night though - keep this in mind.

It was very convenient to go to Behai Park/Forbidden city etc but we did not realize how big Beijing was when traveling by taxi across town would take 30-45 minutes without traffic.

I would 110% recommend this place to friends/family.

An interesting place to say the least. You arrive in a busy street (Xisi St South) and then you have no clue where to go to. The hotel is in a Hutong, and you have no clue what a Hutong is. You find out by asking pleople around, who don't speak English by the way, that a Hutong is a narrow alley. Actually, I knew that but the impact was there nonetheless. You go inside this hutong, turn right, turn left and where the heck is the hotel? Someone less brave would not have gone all the way (it is quite safe actually). Then you see a door at the very end of the alley, I mean, Hutong, hoping you are at the right place. You ring the bell. Phew, yes. OK. You enter. Now things change. There is a warm welcome and the inside is quite nice, clean and comfortable, looking Chinese, with a very friendly staff, spearheaded by Mark, who speaks very good English. The atmosphere is of a bed-and-breakfast. The breakfast is continental style, simple but much better than eating noodles for breakfast (as, believe me, happens in many hotels). As some people say, you get a different experience as if you were in a traditional hotel. Now, location is very convinient, and the subway system in Beijing is excellent! Survival tip when you walk around Beijing (and other places): take your own toilte paper.
