Hotel is very worn out now. Maybe back in the days it was five stars but now it's probably a four.

Rooms are chipping around the fixtures, carpet is stained and old, breakfast was also very average.

If you pay less than ¥850 a night then it'll be okay. Else, look elsewhere.

I stayed at 3 hotels in Beijing on this recent trip - the Fairmont was my least favorite.
I was please with the concierge who was helpful and very nice.
Front desk was also very good.
Resturant host was terrible - rude - very hard to communicate with and that was just to be seated for breakfast - gave up eating at hotel on the third day.
Housekeeper cleaning my room used my hair brush - I have light hair and there was black hairs in my brush...."GROSS" !!!!!
Room was nicely appointed, however, after you showered at night the next morning there was still water on the floor of the shower - they have a drainage problem. Would not stay at this hotel again as found MUSH better , however, I love Fairmont Hotels - just not a good experience with the Fairmont Beijing. Give it a 3 or 4 Star.

Just enjoyed a 3 day stay at the Fairmont. The service is amazing! If it is reasonable upgrade to the Gold floors which takes the service to the next level. Breakfast and cocktail hour is great.
The rooms are a bit dated and in the near future are going to need to be updated but when this building was built it was done 5 star which carries through. Please note the location is not very close to the Forbidden City so if you are in town to tour you might want to consider somewhere near the Forbidden City since taxi's can be hard to come by and pricey.

Room Tip: Get the gold floor if you can take advantage of breakfast and happy hour which has lots of good appe...

No (bad) surprises from this luxury hotel in Beijing, we stayed 3 nights and enjoyed it thoroughly: pool, restaurant and room itself were a treat.
I took profit of a Fairmont promotion ("great rates/great dates") which yielded the price range and type of hotel we needed.
Some minor flaws in hotel maintenaince did not ruin our stay, as well as some occasionalnoises from the street (due to a large glass window), despite the 8th floor.
I would like to point out the courtesy of the reception which granted us an extended in room stay for a couple of hours on the check out day which allowed us to smooth out the following air-travel with a delayed plane. Thank you again, these are the little but invaluable helping facts when travelling with family.

We stayed at the Fairmont Beijing on the first part of our Viking River Cruise. It was a beautiful hotel, lovely breakfast, great location, and our room was lovely. The only complaint we had was that our room faced a busy street and we heard honking all night long!

Room Tip: Plenty of bottled water to use for hydrating and brushing teeth! Our room was on the street side and...

The Fairmont Gold club is excellent for business or leisure travellers and we would definitely recommend paying the extra for this. We have previously stayed at Raffles, Peninsula and the Ritz but this hotel, in our opinion, is the best.. Club Service is very attentive. Location very good for business. Only 10 mins walk to the Silk market. Taxi to Tiananmen square about 5 minutes ( depending in traffic). Pearl market cost under $2 in a taxi. Our Club Suite was very well appointed. Only small things that we noticed were not ideal was the hair drier wasn't working and when replace you had to keep your finger on the button to keep it going! Also no full length mirror. Desk drawers had no stapler, clips, scissors etc. We have stayed here twice and will definitely return to this hotel next year.

This hotel is my favorite by far in Beijing. It is always clean, well staffed, friendly, speak English well, and close to the subway and things to do and see. The food is quite good, but a little expensive.
