Had the most fantastic holiday with Wendy Wu Tours. Our national guide, Kevin, was so caring, well-organised and knowledgeable, he made the trip such fun. It was a hectic tour with Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Li River, Chongqing pandas, Yangtze cruise & Shanghai all included. The food was amazing and plentiful - sometimes with a full lunch most days it was too much! China is an astounding place. The Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors have been on my bucket list for years - so glad I can now tick them off! My only criticism of the whole trip was that the section of the Great Wall which we visited was so steep and difficult to climb - I'd have preferred to have visited the section which has a cable car and toboggan down! However, this was the only thing on the whole trip which wasn't perfect - the rst of the tie was amazing! In Beijing we had a fantastic local guide, Tony - so knowledgable and willing to share his life's experiences under Mao's communist regim and in the present day. In Beijing, we visited Tianenmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace as well as the Great Wall - all beautiful and impressive. The Terracotta Warriors & Horses at Xi'an were truly spectacular. We were lucky enough to meet one of the farmers who first discovered the site. Guilin was my favourite city and this was a good base for shopping as we had more free time here than anywhere else and there were some reasonable shops in town. The Yangtze River cruise for 4 days was a slightly slower pace. The cabins were good and so was the food. We had some lovely excusions too and I recommend the Three Tribes walking tour - beautiful! The Three Gorges dam is a miracle of engineering and we enjoyed the boat-lift. At Chongqing we saw 12 pandas at the zoo, including 3 babies who amused us for ages playing with each other! My favourite part of the whole trip, though, was the day trip on the Li River. The scenery was utterly spectacular and it was the inclusion of Guilin and the Li River which made me book this particular tour. Shanghai was a bit of a whistlestop tour, but the night cruise was spectacular, and the Maglev train was so exciting! All in all, this tour lived up to my expectations and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting to see China!
