The park costs only 2RMB to get in, but there is another fee for the temple and the alter. The alter was under construction, so you can get in, but all the photos are filled with scaffolding and workers. The temple is nice, but the Lama Temple is just down the road and MUCH better. This is not a park for a peaceful morning. The cacophony of competing loudspeakers blaring music for the dancing Ayis, Tai Chi practitioners, and singing groups will rattle anyone.

I just came here for Shi Tiesheng, a famous Chinese writer.
The trees here were well arranged and the space in this big park give you such a feeling that you are immersed, or even dropping into, the bottom of the universe.
Honestly, all the feeling is connected to my previous reading.
If you have no literature preparation for this spot, it is also a good place for walking and talking for intimates.

Unlike Shanghai and many other cities in China, the majority of touristy parks in Beijing require an entrance fee. We walked up here after visiting Lama Temple, and walked around for about an hour. The park was busy with locals to all sorts of things, which was nice. There are some interesting sites like the sacrificing grounds, but overall this park wasn't in my top sites and wouldn't pay to go in again.

Truth be told, it can be boring for some but I really enjoyed the breather. You can take a walk, read a book, have a picnic and visit the Temple of Earth in the middle of the park. It was quite overwhelming to be standing alone at the altar where the Emperors used to make sacrifices for the Earth God. Because there were no one else around, you can actually feel a very different energy of this place.
Highly recommended if you want to experience a peaceful place in Beijing; perfect after visiting all the rest of the superbly crowded museums/temples.

I went there during spring festival. It was decorated on red very beautifully.Thousads of people.Hundreds of eating outlets.Lots of shops selling all kinds of things.Music and games for adults and children. For 30RMB they dress you as Chinese Emperor and carry you around its fun. This is the temple of earth where the Emperors sacrificed animals to earth.
